- Chris GOxfordshire15 contributionsI have always been really impressed by the team at Caliber. They’re super friendly and knowledgeable, and if you want help you can just ask. If you find yourself there as the only shooter you can often get some great help and tips on better shooting from the range safety officer(s). “Charlie” bay is a lot of fun if you want to take shooting to the next level by holster qualifying and shooting steel targets inside. I’ve used their gunsmith services too for a sight upgrade on my pistols. Thanks team caliber for the great facilities and friendly staff. One very happy repeat customer here.Written January 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Norman J1 contributionThis range is large and well lit, modern and clean, comparatively.I would compare it to the Shootpointblank ranges. The prices they charge for firearms are on the high side.I know they do have range officers, but those guys stay behind the glass behind the range lanes so I don't see how they could be ensuring the shooters' safety, but I've talked to them and they are nice enough and they are armed, which is good incase of some idiot on the range going postal.Written March 21, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lt S1 contributionI made a terrible error going to this "shop", against the advice of several people. I took a $1300 1911 in to have a ambidextrous safety put on. This is a basic and easy addition. I have had it done four different times by gun shops in other states with zero problems ever, until now. Besides the fact that they told me it would only take a few days, and after going back a week later, it still had not been touched. The guy that works on the guns (not about to call him a smith) told me that they had a big promotion coming up and that he would not have time to "get to it at all"! I asked to speak to the owner. The owner came over and talked to the supposed "gun repair man", and miraculously, he stated he could have it done by the next day. I should have run away at this point. I came back the next day and when my weapon was returned, the new safety did not work! To make things even worse, the owner comes over and tries to convince me that the safety does work, even though it is CLEARLY not engaging! It took about thirty minutes for the owner to realize that I knew the difference between works and doesn't work. He offers me 30 minutes of free range time and a box of ammo, while suggesting that their "gun guy" put back on the original safety! I told him just to put it back the way it was, as clearly these people had no idea what they were doing. I went back the next day to pick up my weapon. The original safety was back on, the weapon had been fired MANY times and was returned to me in filthy condition as well as oil dripping from every spot that it could drip. The owner then proceeded to TAKE BACK the "free range time" AND the "free" ammo that he had offered, AND charged me $65 for the complete mess that they made of my NEW 1911. If you're ignorant about guns, go there. You will fit right in. Also, the prices are so high, you would have to be crazy to purchase a gun from this place. There gun transfer fee is the highest I have ever seen. Find a gun you like at a place like Bud's, on the internet, call around to gun shops for a reasonable transfer fee (I found $20), and save yourself a ton of cash. Arrogant, Ignorant and Incompetent should be the name of this rip off hole in the wall.Written May 7, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffrey S2 contributionsFar more expensive than other ranges in the area. If you want a better experience, go to Maxon or Caliber.Written November 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Perry1 contributionI have purchased TWO pistols through Locked & Loaded in Pena, Ill. The experience was great and I ran into no issues. However, I am having trouble getting into their website these days with error message: "1020" Does anyone know what this means? I checked with my local FFL and he says they are still in business. Go figure. . .Written November 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
