Some interesting artefacts. The dinosaurs are incredible. Huge recreations skeletons of these are really cool. The Hope diamond is well displayed and a crazy size. The gem section is worth a look

Starts on lower levels with the heartbreaking stories of slavery and segregation but the upper levels then are a celebration of what black culture and individuals have contributed to make the world a better place. Beautifully curated in an stunning building.

If you have not been to DC before, you have to see the Capitol up close. Tour or no tour is up to you, but the building and location is a must see. I have been many times, but this trip was showing my 8 y.o. daughter around and you just get to see in their eyes the recognition of where they actually are. I am sure that security issues are high right now after recent events, but this is still a major location in the governance of our country and deserves a visit.

This trip was my chance to show my 8 year old daughter the memorials and this was her favorite. We were able to ride up on an electric scooter, find some parking areas on the edge, and walk up. It was the same monument and yet different. Took her to stand on the spot of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech. You look out towards the Washington monument across the reflection pool and you can think about all of the other people that have been there and stood where you are. There is just nothing like it.

There is so much to see in this museum. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. I recommend skipping the sections you aren’t interested in as the collection is quite long and you can easily spend hours in the museum.

I visited when I was 18, but that almost 30 years ago and not sure I fully appreciated it at that age, Very thorough history of everything surrounding the Holocaust. Very emotional at times. Very well put together

Stunningly beautiful Jefferson Building (Only one open to the public.)
    Need online entry time appointment.
Self guide tour only. Plan to spend 60-90 minutes.
To go inside of the main reading room, you need a valid LOC library card which you can apply while onsite and is free. Inquire at the library. An application online is needed to proceed and you need to be personally present for the photograph. If it’s not a busy day, you can have the card in hand within an hour.

This museum is definitely worth a visit. So so many things to do and see.

We found the Wright Brothers exhibit the most interesting.

If I’m Washington, visit this place!

I went to school here and was interested in a girl. She asked me to go with her to the Vietnam memorial on Veteran's Day. I said yes but had no idea what I was in for. I will always remember that day as it is etched in my brain forever. There is something that will never leave you when you see people at the wall finding their brothers (literally or figuratively) and breaking down in tears, leaving behind mementos, or just getting a rubbing or photo of a name. This trip to DC, I got to take my 8 year old to see the memorial. Coming back again brought be back to that day back in college and I teared up just a bit. This is still an amazing place to be and feel it come over you.

There aren't many choices for food on the Mall and there are plenty of food trucks. Be prepared to pay a premium price for below average food truck stuff.

This is a thought provoking memorial.

There are 19 life size statues of soldiers walking though foliage. Nearby are lists of the names of those who did not make it back from the war.

Incredible art collection. The building itself is very nice with an indoor courtyard and cafe, making it a nice place to retreat and relax.

Don't let the topic or some of the bad press turn you off from a great experience. Although it is a religious topic, the museum is remarkably non-religious. One doesn't have to believe in the Bible or know anything about he Bible to have an enjoyable visit. The presentations of the Old and New Testaments are particularly well done. The exhibit about a 20th century Chinese martyr (Watchman Nee) is very moving, rare for a any museum to include anything about Chinese, or even Asian contributions/influence on the world. The restaurant serves surprisingly excellent food. Fly through buildings in Washington Revelations--woth the extra money if you don't get motion sickness. The price of admission is high compared to all the free stuff in D.C. but you can tell that no expense was spared to create a great museum and memorable visit.

Must see! Finally after half a dozen visits to D.C. we got to go to the top of the Washington Monument. The elevator is working great and it was nice and cool despite the summer heat wave. The park service staff are very friendly and helpful. You must get tickets in advance, so plan ahead. The views from the top are spectacular--we even saw Marine One land on the White House lawn to pick up the President.

A must visit for its houses, streets, businesses, restaurants and bars. Waterfront with its businesses on the Potomac.
