When we last passed this Church it was surrounded by fencing & off limits after the huge floods that struck the area. The Chapel on the Rock was untouched and happily was open on this visit. Very reminiscent of eastern European chapels in design & looks and it once hosted the Pope. Very small inside but a beautiful little church at the foot of the mountains.

During a visit to the Chapel on the Rock, a mile down the road, we stopped at the Eagle Plume Trading Post. It houses lots of Native American souvenirs as well as jewelry and other items.
They also have a small museum section with photos, coins, weapons and jewelry. Very friendly folks.

We took 20 teenaged girls up this weekend and everything was super. Professional and friendly and they were cognizant of our safety. A great experience and the girls loved it!

I was so impressed with this stop! This is a local community center/charity with a ton of local art for purchase. I spent at least 30 minutes browsing a wide variety of art (watercolor prints and originals, pottery, glass, fabric/woven art, etc). The gals working, probably volunteering, were SO HELPFUL providing information and recommendations for the Peak to Peak drive. Very clean restrooms and snacks available for purchase.

My son's wedding was held here. Absolutely beautiful venue. He got married in a meadow which we got to down a lovely trail from the lodge. Ample seating for the ceremony and upon our return up the trail to the lodge following the ceremony we were greeted by a couple of llamas with adult beverages they packed in for our walking enjoyment! What a novel idea.

The lodge's food served was incredibly delicious and the family style way they served it was perfect.

The lodge's several floors, wrap around porch with seating overlooking the river and an amphitheatre were all amazing assets.

And during the reception there was a hail storm! I had never seen so much hail and for such a long period of time. Afterwards the children had a blast playing in it!

If you are in Allespark, don't miss stopping into Distant Harbors if you''re fortunate enough to be there when they are open (seasonal hours). . Even if you aren't a shopper, it is a one of a kind shop. Christine, the proprietor, has a creative sense of design and a knack for finding interesting, unique items ( from many locations/harbors) . She brings in local artists and craft people and has a story to tell about each one, if you're interested! You can sit on the front porch for awhile and take in local, townspeople activity. The bulding itself is a historic landmark! And did I mention the boutique in the back room? Again, Christine has a unique sense of style and you just might find something!
