What travellers are saying
- TravelingAnnKVentura, CA315 contributionsProbably one of the best beaches in the United States. Beautiful views from the beach. The reason we came to Maui was to see the beaches. The snorkeling was great too.Written June 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- elizabeth eToronto, Canada39 contributionsGorgeous beach, some of our best shallow snorkelling. Parking is at a minimum so go before noon or close to sunset. A sunset stroll is amazing and romantic.Written May 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- aehall7Columbus, OH154 contributionsWe were actually at the Ho’okipa Lookout watching surfers, kiteboarders, and turtles on the beach. We walked to the north end of the parking lot and walked out on to the rocks. It was a beautiful evening and we listened to the currents hitting the rocks and the activity on the water. Took some short videos to keep the water vibrant in our minds.Written June 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MichaelHamilton, NJ23 contributionsMy brother in law and sister booked us the Marriott hotel on the beach. The beach is very friendly for families and couples. - NapervilleTravellerNaperville, IL89 contributionsMake your reservation! This is a beautiful beach. However, as other reviewers have said, it is dangerous. We are not ocean swimmers, but love to stand at the edge to let the waves wash over our feet. The waves were very rough and knocked me down. A few minutes later, I realized I had a skinned up knee and thumb-minor injuries. It was great fun to sit and watch others in the water. To the right of the beach is a beautiful little sea cave-I wasn't going to go in at first-you have to duck down pretty low. Once you are past the first low spot, you can stand up. It was an absolutely fabulous view-I could have stayed in there for hours!! We had booked 2 reservations, we weren't sure what time we would arrive. However, we stayed for about 1 1/2 hours and then went on to resume our Road to Hana experience.Written June 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tracie WMaple Ridge, Canada1,025 contributionsThis is by far h the r best snorkeling experience web had on Maui. So many turtles and fish, amazing reef. Lots of Grady snorkeling to be has. Prefer the right side of the beach when looking out at the water, found way more fish on that sideWritten May 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bonnie PStevens Point, United States6 contributionsBeautiful views and clean water, lifeguards on duty. Waves too large for swimming and the tide comes in quickly here. Make sure to bring shoes, as the walk to and from the beach will burn your feet! You must pay for parking. There are also food trucks parked near the entrance, which was a nice surprise. We tried the Mahi tacos, which were really good.Written June 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Max H3 contributionsBasically the perfect archetypical beach. It's got free parking, easy access, beautiful views, plenty of space and not remotely crowded, i can't imagine what else you could want in a beach. Keep an eye for sea turtles frequently swimming by!Written May 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mychelle K34 contributionsLong cove with clean beach. Access to bathroom and outdoor shower. Plan to grab an on street parking spot. Nice boardwalk ramp to beach.Written April 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- msa23_2000Chino Hills, CA1,365 contributionsThis is secluded. Go to big beach and head north and hike over a little hill. It has good waves for swimming. Not too crowded. They now enforce a 4pm closure time here. Great vibe and everyone was chill. Very safe.Written April 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mychelle K34 contributionsBig grassy park next to beach access. Lots of picnic tables. Shore line was spacious and good for swimming. Easy access to bathroom and rinse shower. Good size parking lot but does fill up on the weekend but there is also decent street parking.Written April 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffery MLaguna Niguel58 contributionsThis is the beach that is the play beach for the Wailea Beach Resort and the Maui Elua resort. The waves here in October were minimal and it was not difficult to get in to the water. The snorkeling is best in the morning and the crowd picked up as the day wore on so go early morning for the best, least crowded snorkel experience. Also swim out to the furthest tip of the reef and beyond, mind the surge breaking on the rocks of course, but the outer point is the least crowded area and was where the turtles were hanging out feeding. Even a better idea walk past the reef through a small cluster of trees on the beach to the other side of the reef and snorkel the north side of it and head out to the point from there. You will encounter less people on that side of the reef as most of the snorkelers are coming from the Wailea Beach Resort which is on the south side. The fish were numerous (all the classic Hawaiian reef fish) and conditions in October were about 10-15' visibility and maybe
20+ further out. I saw at least 3 different turtles feeding and hanging out but it could have been as many as 7 since I had numerous sitings some of which may have been the same turtles.Written October 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The sidewalk is narrower there soon afterward going by private property. Views are beautiful in the morning with different activity across resorts. Went all the way to the Andaz and back, and it’s a nice way to get steps in. Recommend to also take the same walk in the evening for different colorings in the sky, and different activities at the hotels.Written June 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - beth ann kHalstead, KS1,678 contributionsThis is sort of part of the resort, and seems to be very popular. This was the most populated beach we visited.Written February 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mintchip586United States70 contributionsBest beach for our needs who just wanted calm and relaxing for elderly family members, we saw some families with younger kids, as well as more adventurous snorkelers. A catamaran would come in once that picked up and dropped off guests who presumably sailed out further for half day snorkelers trip. We got there early before 9 am and had pick of the space. Calm waters in the morning and big tree on the side with shade. Small-ish beach but nice walkway from parking lot and showers/restrooms. 3 picnic tables on grassy area that was perched above beach. Overflow lot beyond the initial parking area.Written May 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
