What travellers are saying
- Talia N2 contributionsGreat place to rest and get a break from the city. It was not open the time that I visited, so instead I just sat down on a bench and enjoyed the surrounding area.Written January 21, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - beetcannerSouthern Nevada789 contributionsPut on your walking shoes for a stroll through this beautiful botanical garden. Bring your camera because this place offers many photo opps. Also, note the young couples in deep conversation parked on benches throughout the garden.. This is a gorgeous, safe place for the engaged and not yet engaged. Call it a date or just a getting to know you chat in person. Also, great place to lose your jetlag and breathe deeply. Dine at Restaurant Traiteur inside the garden.Written October 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- bluebay06La Spezia, Italy2,692 contributionsThe Kasbah is what remains of the citadel and its neighborhood. Walking inside it is certainly fascinating and extremely interesting. The streets are very narrow and there are many stairways, while many buildings are in a serious state of abandonment and partly collapsed. Virtually without tourists, for a few hours we moved around lazily among the local people and even had lunch with traditional food. We took lots of pictures without any problems and, even though we were a clearly Western couple, nobody bothered us, not even trying to sell us anything. A number of buildings appear abandoned and there are several murals and writings praising two local football teams, one of which has the motto in Italian “amore e mentalità”. We believe we can say that it is a safe place to visit even individually, as we did, and that it is a place, for its history and true life, not to be missed if you are in this city.Written December 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bluebay06La Spezia, Italy2,692 contributionsThis imposing monument was built in 1982 to commemorate all Algerians who lost their lives in the war of independence. Situated in a position that offers a perfect view of the port area of Algiers, this monument is only visible from below (there is no access to the platform) and cannot be walked around because a sector on the seaside is closed to pedestrian traffic. Going down the right side of the monument you enter the museum for which you have to pay a ticket. Very popular with school groups, this museum, where you are not allowed to take photos, begins with a room with the portraits of all the presidents of Algeria, and then continues in a limited area where the French conquest of the country is represented. The rest of this large museum is dedicated to the long war of independence from France, which includes all the protagonists of this struggle and the crudest aspects of the French attempt to repress it.Written December 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sbrighton1Brighton, UK267 contributionsNice heritage with one of few places in Algeria that signs in English (alongside Arabic and French) which allowed for an understanding of the history.Written August 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Naija MAlgiers, Algeria1,116 contributionsThis is certainly a grand old building and is quite a focal point for the centre of Algiers. However, it does not seem to be open to the public. It’s a busy place because of its location - it’s at the end of the most popular shopping street in the city and surrounded by popular cafes and restaurants.Written March 30, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is somewhat dirty, though, like most of Algeria, with many broken sidewalks.Written November 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - beetcannerSouthern Nevada789 contributionsWhat a lovely museum. Paintings galore. Work your way to the basement. Such a feast for the eyes. Rainy day or blistering hot, come here. Marvel at the busts, sculptures, vases and etchings. Walk out onto the terrasse for a view of the botanical gardens and Martyrs Monument.
