Beautiful first temple to visit in Colombo, but probably not of much interest for someone not particularly interested in Buddhist history and it’s evolution throughout south and East Asian cultures. If you’re into these, it’s a blast.

The lake part takes maybe ten minutes to see. Heads up it is brutally hot and there is little shade save the central roofed chamber.

We were here on an early Saturday morning. It was quite busy but in a good way. People were walking, exercising and sunbathing as well. Our hotel, Berjaya was right beside the beach and we had an over-bridge to reach the beach from our hotel (there was a train track under the bridge). There were a few restaurants that were literally on the beach itself.

It's a fairly long beach. There were some watersports activities happening. I remember jet skiing. Although, we didn't do any.

A great place to watch the sun set and get some cooler air in the busy city. There are some food stalls and traders selling children’s toys, also a bouncy castle. When we were there early evening there was a short ceremony of lowering the flag by military men…not sure if this is every day.Its a busy area with locals and tourists, there is also shops and restaurants across the road.

A trip to this museum was part of a complimentary tour from our hotel. There was lots to see there but there were lots of staircases.

My visit to Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya was nothing short of exceptional. This stunning temple complex is not only breathtaking in its architectural and artistic beauty but also radiates a profound sense of peace and spirituality. The people and staff at the temple were incredibly kind and welcoming, adding to the serenity and warmth of the environment. The fact that entry is free is just the cherry on top, making this beautiful and historic site accessible to all. A must-visit for anyone looking to experience the cultural and spiritual heart of the area.

Nice shops, bars and restaurants are there. But I felt that all are formal rather than live and buzzing happy go lucky atmosphere is missing.

The Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque is a stunning architectural marvel, offering an awe-inspiring glimpse into spiritual and cultural richness. The intricate design and vibrant colors of the mosque make it a must-visit. However, the experience was slightly marred by unclear information regarding opening hours, causing some confusion during the visit. A clearer schedule would enhance the visitor experience significant
