The owners were such a pleasure to work with. Their store is well organized and filled with so many unique treasures. They made my dreams come true today when I found a widows mite pendant in silver which was what I fell in love with at a different store earlier that day. They gave me an affordable and fair price. Both gentle men were a pleasure to work with. Both are photoed here with my husband. Thanks guys!

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting Omar's mosaic store. The mosaics are breathtaking, and Omar was very informative and helpful. I ultimately purchased a stunning item that now resides in mu living room with pride.

Most tourists to Jerusalem focus on the Christian quarter or the Jewish quarter, depending on their religious perspective. But it's definitely worth spending some time in the Armenian quarter.

Have lunch at the Armenian Tavern or another traditional Armenian restaurant and then go to one of the Armenian ceramic studios. There are four in the Old City. Vic's is located between the Armenian Tavern restaurant and the Jaffa Gate.

I got to meet Vic, see him paint a few pieces, and talk to him about his creative process. His small shop is crowded with his creations, ranging from very modern art to traditional paintings on traditional ceramics. (Some of the other studios only do traditional work.) It was neat to hear about his life in the Armenian Quarter, see him work, and take him a beautiful souvenir of this corner of old Jerusalem.

And in case you were wondering, he can do Christian pieces or Judaica. He can also personalize pieces in a variety of languages.

My wife and I have visited Israel many times. We always stay in Tel Aviv, but travel to Jerusalem by bus for a day. This artists co-op is a short cab ride from the bus station and a nice walk to the old city. Everything in the store is hand made from artists in Israel. The prices are more than fair and the customer service is incredible. We have purchased both in person and on line and have always been 100% satisfied. I can't recommend this shop enough.

In the center of Jerusalem it is possible to find a quiet place with a great museum and a restaurant.
It was the home of Anna Ticho and her husband a known eye doctor.
It was good that the place was kept and not converted in the high rising buildings as many in the area.
Even the garden was saved and the gallery as part of the Israel Museum has a permanent exhibition and also temporary exhibits of Israel artist.
The resturant was located in a upper floor, mainly of italian food.
It is also a coffee place to enjoy at all time.
It is possible also to have small group celebrations in a separate room.
The elevator to get to the third floor is small and not always work what is a problem for elderly people. It should be consider to fix it.

Yup- that about says it all. It's a pleasant and enjoyable area to relax, enjoy good food at one of the several very good to outstanding restaurants and to enjoy music.... especially in the usually nice weather.

    You can see my photos.

Fun experience to have in Jerusalem with a group. We dressed up as biblical characters and then walked through part of the old city to a special spot for a photoshoot.

Stayed in the Dan Jerusalem for a week on my honeymoon and just loved the hotel, the amenities & Israel in general. My wife and I stopped by the art gallery down the hall from the lobby to check it out and we were really impressed. We even bought a few things for our new home. About a week after we got home our art came to us beautifully wrapped and now sits on our wall. It really makes our house feel like a home. We love the pieces we got. Thanks!

A number of years ago, we made our first 'real' art purchase at this gallery with the wonderful patience and help of gallery owner Gabriel Knafo. We couldn't afford what we really wanted, and Gabriel calmly worked closely with us so that we could end up with something nonetheless. He told us it would have to be made for us and it would be sent to us in Los Angeles, framed and boxed. A number of weeks later, just as he said, the piece arrived and we were in possession of that first original, "real" art piece on our wall. Fast forward a number of years and we were back in the gallery on a subsequent visit, admiring the art, enjoying catching up with Gabriel and . . . with Gabriel's patient guidance, purchase #2 was made. Just like the first time, the piece was sent to us framed and boxed, in perfect condition. Fast forward a number of years and once again, we found ourselves back in the gallery, and even though we have been in many other galleries in the counry, on this visit, we worked with Gabriel to purchase a collection of smaller pieces to adorn our dining room and just as occured previously, they arrived in perfect condition when he said they would arrive. In this case, we needed time to make this purchase, and Gabriel gave us the time and space we needed before we actually made the purchase (which we didn't make until long after returning home). Gabriel is a classy guy with the integrity and honesty that makes working with him so pleasurable. It is a blessing to have beautiful art from Israeli artists in our home, and it is equally a blessing to be able to do business with someone as patient, knowledgelable, and personable as Gabriel. If you want to browse a great gallery, don't miss this one.

My young son was traveling in Israel and was looking for a treasure for his mother on his last day in Jerusalem. He had to look no further than Alit, right off of Ben Yehuda Street. The person in the shop helped him with his selection and made his purchase a smooth one. He left there with a beautiful pair of earrings at a fair price. There is a beautiful selection of finely crafted reasonably priced jewelry at Alit that will make any woman happy.
