- LEO W2 contributionsIn early January, I went to Beijing with a group of friends for five days. At first, I tried to plan everything myself, but choosing the sights and managing the schedule was just too overwhelming. Luckily, a friend recommended a local travel agency, and it turned out to be the best decision!
We arrived at Beijing airport around 2 AM, and the driver was already waiting for us. He helped with our bags and even reminded us to dress warmly—such a thoughtful gesture! From there, the itinerary was perfectly planned. Each day was packed with exciting activities but never felt rushed. The guide was incredibly professional and flexible, adjusting the pace to match our needs. She also took beautiful photos for us, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.
The best surprise, though, was when the travel consultant sent us fruit through a food delivery service—such a thoughtful touch! The sightseeing spots were well-balanced, blending rich history with fun shopping areas. The accommodations and food were great too.
This trip was absolutely amazing. If any of my friends plan to visit Beijing, I would strongly recommend this travel agency. It takes all the hassle out of planning, and the experience is beyond worth it! Beijing’s sights are truly breathtaking and absolutely worth a visit.Written January 15, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lots of small buildings, as you entered all extremely important to the story of the grounds. Most you could not go into, just look in the windows. You come to an extremely large lake with all kinds of
watercraft going in all directions. There was an island with a bridge to it to the south. A long covered walkway went around the N side of the lake. Beautiful paintings and decorations on the inside all the way. At the end of the covered walkway, you could look up the hill to the Summer Palace. Supposedly you need to climb about 500 steps
to reach the palace. Since we had already covered over five miles today we opted not to go up to the palace. We left our group at that point and walked back along the lake and exited.Written January 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Much of the grounds covered in cedars and some pines. Each tree had a tag with it’s age. Supposedly trees over 300 years old could be found. Under the trees many groups of elderly people doing Tyche (they get in free). When our tour was over we boarded a private van to our next stop NW of the city. Followed a very pretty walled canal most of the way, lined with trees and flowers. Lots of flowers and roses all along the highways in this city.Written January 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Oliver BaiNewmarket, Canada50 contributionsWe went with a tour group and we had around 2 hours there. I would recommend you staying there longer but 2 hours is enough. It could get cold, dropping down to -3, so come dressed prepared. It's usaully crowdred there in the morning, many more groups coming with tour groups and some portions of the Badaling Great Wall can be steep with no steps with there only being a guard rail so either walk up there or not. Overall, very good portion of the Great Wall, definetly recommendWritten January 20, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - fire-tower3,481 contributionsWe visited Lama Temple, officially known as the Yonghe Temple, on a late Thursday morning in December. Lama Temple is the most renowned Tibetan Buddhist temple outside of Tibet, and is considered as the largest and most perfectly preserved lamasery in present day China. This temple has many halls and sits on a large compound. There are many worshippers praying and you can actually see monks chanting in various halls. We also got to see a 18-metre high statue of Maitreya that is carved out of a single piece of white sandalwood in 1750, a Guinness World Record. Worth a visit if you have time.Written December 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- fire-tower3,481 contributionsWe visited Jingshan Park on a Sunday afternoon, and walk up towards the highest pavilion. Could be because it was a Sunday but it was extremely crowded as everyone was jostling to snap a photo of the Forbidden City across the road. What is interesting is that the hill is artificially created. The hill was constructed during Ming dynasty from the soil excavated when constructing the moats of the Imperial Palace and nearby canals. The soil was moved across and that was how the hill was formed.
We had a nice walk in the park and had very nice views awhile walking up the hill. Do think about transport too, as it was difficult to hail a taxi or get a ride through Didi while we were there. Do time this visit if you intend to visit the Forbidden City.Written December 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The walk in -3 degrees in the wee hours on a Thursday December morning was not that far from our hotel, but subject to a few security checks (IDs and bags) along the way. The wait was long and the flag raising did not start until 7.25am, so we had waited for slightly more than an hour.
The contingent marched from building and across the road, where traffic was stopped a few minutes earlier. Once ready, the national anthem was played and the flag was raised, all within minutes. While there were a few foreigners, most were locals and many were elders who make the trip and wait to witness the ceremony. The patriotism is commendable. After the flag raiding ceremony, we proceeded to explore Tiananmen Square. Definitely an experience for those who visit Beijing but do note that online reservation is required.Written December 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One of the mall has a supermarket in the basement, something hard to find in the Wangfujing area. Definitely a nice place to take a stroll and when you intend to do some shopping.Written December 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cosmopolitan6186851 contributionDefinitely worth it if you're interested in contemporary art. Many galleries you can stroll through; most are free but a few charge an entrance fee. - BonnyBelieverGreater Sydney, Australia120 contributionsThe place was magical! The weather was perfect for our climb. Our tour took us by bus to the car park, we walked to the stairs for the start of the climb.
It is steep, and there are not a lot of landings!
There is irregular distribution of bricks which may be either one layer or two to make the stairs.Written November 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
