Some of the churches in Kiev are remade into museums where you consequently have to pay an entrance fee.

Golden Gate
#10 of 144 Museums in Kiev
My recommendation is to enter the little museum and climb to the top where a very small little chapel, almost only for you, is well hidden high above this always very busy little aquare.
It has a small museum, places to get great views and pictures of the city, and the monument to Yaroslav the Wise just outside.

#20 of 144 Museums in Kiev
The museum is easy to find along the side of Shevchenko Park, opposite the red university building, only 10 minutes' walk or so from Bessarabsky Market.
