What travellers are saying
- A. AliManchester, UK200 contributionsThe Dubai Museum is a lovely and informative day out with the kids. We learnt alot about how the architecture of Dubai came about. You cant help but reflect on the history of Dubai and the heavily silenced slavery of the people that have sacrificed their health and lives in the creating of the Magnificent Dubai we visit today.Written November 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul ECambridge, UK50 contributionsThis really is an amazing 'museum'. It isn't really a traditional museum as such but rather a series of restored houses located within the 'old quarter' of the City. Each house is home to a specific historical subject whether this be fishing for pearls, the discovery of oil, history of The Creek, the role of perfume, urbanisation, craft industry etc.
The information is thoughtfully presented, accessible and indeed most engaging. Helpful guides throughout and a real sense of being able to wander and permission to literally follow ones own curiosity. There is no route as such.
A real sense of Dubai and one far removed from the glitzWritten January 3, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were a total of 6 other visitors during my visit. The museum traces the development of the UAE since independence in the early 1970s, and provides insights into how farsighted and leaders of Dubai and Abu Dhabi envisaged the future of the UAE. It's quite educational, and there are a number of interactive displays explaining the development of the UAE..Written November 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Charlotte D26 contributionsDubai Creek Heritage Village is a hidden gem nestled amidst the modern skyline of Dubai. Stepping into this cultural oasis feels like traveling back in time to the roots of Emirati heritage. The village offers a captivating glimpse into traditional Emirati life, with beautifully preserved buildings, bustling souks, and authentic cultural experiences. From exploring the historical exhibits to witnessing traditional crafts being practiced, every corner of the village is steeped in history and charm. The waterfront location adds to the ambiance, providing a picturesque backdrop for leisurely strolls along the creek. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, Dubai Creek Heritage Village offers a delightful journey into the rich tapestry of Emirati culture.Written April 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The architecture is very beautiful and there were particularly beautiful wooden doors and windows.Written November 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As you might imagine from the name it’s a wonderfully eclectic canter through the history and culture of the region, with exhibitions on pearls, manuscripts, literature and weaponry.
Perhaps most strikingly, there are also very thoughtful and moving sections on both the Holocaust (some fascinating stories of Muslims helping escaping Jews) and the more recent Abrahamic Accords.

Not a huge museum but interesting and informative, it took us about 45mins. There is a gift shop but we didn't visit.Written September 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jerrold61321 contributionsEspecially for those who remember the old Trucial States stamps -- issued in large quantities in decades past, a visit to the Philately museum in the Fahidi district is well worthwhile.Written December 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
