Visiting Angkor Wat was one of the highlights of my trip to Cambodia. Honestly, I wasn’t prepared for just how stunning it would be. The sheer size of the temple complex is overwhelming like, how did they build something this incredible back in the day?

I woke up early to catch the sunrise (recommended by our hotel), and let me tell you, it was worth it! Watching the sun rise over the temple was magical; the colors were just so vibrant. The reflection on the water created an amazing photo op, too!

Walking through the intricate carvings and massive stone structures was like stepping back in time. I spent hours exploring the ruins and still didn't see everything! A little tip: wear comfy shoes you’ll be doing a lot of walking, and it’s super easy to lose track of time exploring.

One minor thing, though: it can get quite crowded, especially later in the day, so if you can, try to go early. Overall, Angkor Wat is a must-visit for anyone traveling to this part of the world. I can't recommend it enough!

Bayon temple is the most beautiful and stunning temple in Angkor Thom complex. It stands with 54 towers and each tower has four faces look every direction. I really appreciate and love this very much. Because the piece of stone and stone to be towers with astonishing faces smiling at everyone. Can’t see these type of temples everywhere in the world. But in Cambodia. Love love love love Bayon temple.

Home of "Tomb Raider" this is another slightly different from the normal temple.
Not huge and nicely accessible. Get your Tuk Tuk driver to drop you off one side and pick you up the other.

A busy area consisting of a few streets. Lots of bright lights & loud music.
Not as busy as I’d thought it would be, but then many Cambodians told us that since Covid tourism is not what it was.
Felt quite safe there,as there were plenty of tourist police.
Went in a couple of bars. Very cheap alcohol, cocktails tasted cheap too !!!

Banteay Srei was not very busy the morning of my visit. At that time the rain came but it just added to the beauty of the place.

There were so many intricate carvings to see all around. It probably was the most concentrated and in great condition of any temple. The pink sandstone was primarily used due to its ease of carving but also made the coloring quite unique and beautiful.

While one cannot go inside many of the buildings the pathways do bring visitors up close.

Definitely a must see if you have the time. The visit was combined with Kbal Spean and the Landmine Museum.

We had a wonderful Tuk-Tuk Driver (Mr. Kim Tuk-Tuk Driver) who was recommended to us by a friend who had visited the temples a few months ago. We reached out to Mr. Kim on WhatsApp and arranged for him to tour us for the day and provide a licensed guide, which he gladly did. This was our second stop after visiting Angkor Wat and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Having a guide along really makes a difference. In addition, this temple is not as busy as Angkor Wat so it was a more relaxed visit as we didn't have the clouds. Our guide was excellent in interpreting the murals that are carved into some of the walls which was very interesting and something we would have completely missed if he wasn't with us.

I am so glad I visited! It was a meaningful experience with a great insight as to what Apopo do in the world. Not only do they train rats to detect TNT, but also TB in humans. It was a very informative visit and it was great seeing the rats in action. They are beautiful creatures and you will change your mindset about them once you see them in the flash, doing great work.
There is plenty of merchandise to purchase at the centre, and opportunities to donate via their website. I encourage people to do so!

The museum is very sobering to visit. It brings home the horror and stupidity of war. Even today people are being maimed decades on since there are still 2.5 mines for every person in Cambodia.

What an outstanding museum! The collection is beautiful and impressive, the layout is logical, the interior is downright artistic l and the written explanations in English, while at times a bit text-heavy, were informative. I especially appreciated that you could get close to the displays, the better to appreciate the beautiful and ornate workmanship.
