Oral traditions are the backbone of Indigenous knowledge transfer and storytelling is the method by which much is shared. Storytelling serves to connect individuals and communities to their place and time as well as each other. Stories are also used to teach history, cultural etiquette, and spiritual beliefs.
Blessing was a lovely host and he did a great job touring me on this wonderful safari! I highly recommend him for the Best of Matobo Tour. A Zimbabwean telling Zimbabwean stories. Prices are affordable, very good organization, competent and friendly host he was.

Top 10 most beautiful places in the world. Our tour guide, Valentine, was incredibly knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. I hope to connect with him again. We have some incredible photos to share. I highly recommend him. We saw Rhino, Kudu, Baboons, A Black Mamba, Small Spotted Gennet, Bush Bock, Guinea Foul, and more. He took us to see 10,000 year old Bushman markings on stones and taught us about plant life that is unique to that region of the world. Oh yes, don't forget to enjoy the majestic sunrise!

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the Great Zimbabwe with This and That Safaris. Along the way, Thembi (my guide) pointed out the first road built in Zimbabwe, the gold mining towns, the Chinese factories, etc. Although the drive was a long one, this added a lot of interest to the journey.

At the Great Zimbabwe site, Thembi handed me over to one of the official guides who was very knowledgeable about the archaeology and history as well as the environment. I just wish that we had more time at the museum, however.

I should also add that Thembi went the extra mile to sort out the payment for the trip, as it seems that his bank had problems with dealing with the international transaction.

Aside from the payment issue, there are a couple of other areas for improvement, however:
    • Thembi should have sorted out the drinks and lunch BEFORE the trip commenced rather than after he picked me up; this added to the length of the journey.
    • As stated above I wish that we could have spent more time in the museum; this could have happened had we not spent time sorting out the drinks and lunch during the trip.

On the whole, however, the trip was great.

It's a fascinating place, full of history, rhinos and bonkers rocks. It would be even better if the roads could be repaired so that more of the caves could be explored - a 4x4 would also help. My guide, Thembo, did his best to make sure I saw everything, and that included hauling me up some of the more difficult rocks! He was also very knowledgeable and interesting. A great day.

I used Bushmen Travel Company for two tours - Great Zimbabwe and Best of Matobo. I was impressed with both. Prior to the tours, I had prompt, informative responses to questions I emailed. Blessing was my guide to Matobo and driver to Great Zimbabwe (where I took a tour with a local guide). Great Zimbabwe was amazing! I loved visiting the Hill and sitting on the king's throne. Tech was my local guide, who was informative and patient (there was steep incline to the top) as I slowly made my way to the top. Breakfast and lunch was great. Thank you Bushmen for two great tours during my stay in Bulawayo!

What an amazing experience. Lesley was incredibly helpful, patient and accommodating. He always had a smile on his face and a great attitude. By the end of the trip he was part of the family!

Blessing was awesome! So knowledgeable and kind. Was able to give us a great experience with the rhinos while keeping us safe. Love all the history he was able to provide at the cave painting sites and at Rhodes’ grave. Our elderly grandfather was able to join for the drive and sat in the cab. Blessing was so courteous and thoughtful in his interactions.

We took the two day trip from Bulawayo to the Great Zimbabwe and it was worth every minute. Our journey started on time and we enjoyed the road trip. We had asked for some local snacks and found the one ones rhey had picked for us quite pleasant. I understand they are indehenous to Zimbabwe. Once we got there the guide that Bonisa Excursions assigned to us was very knowledgeable. The sunsets and accommodation was cosy, clean and warm. We are planning our next trip to Victoria Falls and will book with this company again. A big thank you to our driver Tinashe who was very accommodating.

Lesley was a fantastic driver and a please to talk to on our journey. I was a bit nervous after being warned about what a rough road this trip was on, but Lesley was very knowledgeable about the conditions and created a very smooth experience for us. We are so grateful!!!

Such a great experience! Do not hesitate into contacting this company. They know everything and everyone in the region, and will design you a perfect tour, personalized to what you are interested in. As a solo traveler, it's sometimes hard in Zimbabwe to do tours, but I got exactly what I wanted. If I had more time in Bulawayo I would've done more tours with them.

Fantastic tour with Blessing who was knowledgable, engaging and made the tour experience really enjoyable. The Railway Museum was a particular highlight and the tour is well organised with transport provided along with hotel pick up. Blessing also made time for us to see Centenary Park which was a special request and greatly appreciated - we enjoyed hearing the stories of his experiences living in Bulawayo! Highly recommended tour.

The Natural History Museum should be deleted from the tour. At the US $10 admission price, it simply isn't worth it. They should have paid me to go there! The balance of the tour is okay. The guide is very good, very knowledgeable. The Railway Museum is a highlight of the tour. Also, the Nesbitt Castle is excellent, and it's a nice thing to enjoy at the end of the tour. In conclusion, the guide is very good, and the tour is okay, but the Natural History Museum is a rip off, and I wouldn't recommend going there at all.

Suppose to be a five hour tour got three at best. Don't think i got any information that wasn't on the placards at these ruins. Was good to see not worth $80 though when it cost Americans $30 to enter. Not a long drive the hotel would have taken me there. Lunch consisted of a beer, about ten nuts and some type of salted jerky. The company only takes cash (as thier theifs). Was to go on the great zimbabwe ruins and one other. My card got stolen so cant get anymore cash so i had to cancel the remaining tours. Good thing! From what i can tell (from the hotel) they are the only tour company. Don't think there going to suggest them again but it is africa. Did get to go to the site i cant remember as the hotel took me there. No need to give these looser another $200 for that tour as i don't think i missed much
