What travellers are saying
- ChrisThomasTravelsManama, Bahrain618 contributionsAn excellent example of Imperial Russian architecture, this church is well worth a visit. Crowds of locals will attest that this is a peaceful spot to while away the afternoon hours.Written March 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - B J2 contributionsA must visit park. Its quiet a large park with ample of sitting benches around. The giant size monuments commemorating the fallen of the World War is just breathtaking. Ascension Cathedral is also inside this park, It was completed in 1907, the cathedral is made out of wood but without nails and is claimed to be the world second tallest wooden church. The park also has many squirrel's and they actually come very near to you and take the nuts from your palm, its a wonderful experience.Written March 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - soHong Kong, China26 contributionsNot much to see in Winter. Only fast coaster (expect a long queue), the small ferris wheel and a few game stalls are open. The cable car ride is kind of worth it though.Written January 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- toktarbay aiaru1 contributionpeople you don't have to pay $ 60 for a trip, I read reviews here and some do not know that they are very much overpaying, for such a maximum is 5000 tenge (local currency) that's about $10. use Yandex Taxi or indriver . Unfortunately , there is a lot of contraband in such beautiful places where there are many tourists . so be careful. if you want to spend the night somewhere, download the application " крыша " and use a translator. in this country, you don't need to translate for locals into their native language for correct translation, you can also use Russian, since in this country almost everyone knows Russian. No need to agree for everything and give money, argue, say that call the police here is their number (112). I wish everyone a good day in Almaty and if you love nature, I advise you to visit (botanical garden)(ботанический сад)Written November 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - laoiscyclist.blogspot.comMountmellick, Ireland86 contributionsFantastic spot at a very reasonable price for skating while surrounded by snow capped peaks. Thank you Medeu. I think it was 3500 Tenge in and 2000 Tenge to hire skates, Feb 2024. Plenty of options there for coffee too and great walking nearby.Written February 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Haytham Abu FirasQatar14,444 contributionsZeleny or Green Bazaar is a famous highlight while in Almaty. Thought Green for selling vegetables, but actually it’s a bazaar for everything you need. Nuts, candies, fruits, meats, clothes and even pharmacy. Overpriced. Locals don’t shop from there as per my guide saying. Fresh fruits, don’t miss pomegranate fresh juice, buy Alma or Apple, try their tasty nuts and many others. Workers is from different countries, Tajiks, Uzbek, Turkish, Russian and of course Kazakh. You can buy horse meat as well. Decent visit.Written October 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Frances BYorkshire, UK911 contributionsThe main entrance to the park is easily identified through its impressive entrance gate. That said there are also other access points to the park.
The park has many pathways and is very well kept and like everywhere in Almaty, very clean. It has lots of flowering plants and a good variety of trees.
There are also lots of things dotted around in the park to keep you entertained and attract your attention. There are some fabulous sculptures.
From the park you can easily access Almaty Zoo and Dinosaur Land and the watermark (when it is open)
There are lots of games and attractions for families and children. There was a small train giving rides as well as horses and carriages.
As you walk further into the park you will find a large lake which has fountains. There are also small boats and pedalos for hire.
There are places to get food and drink and also street stalls selling different food items.
