We enjoyed seeing all the beautiful sights, exploring the city & a delicious lunch with our guide. I’d recommend this to anyone considering it! We hope to come back with our 2 children someday & repeat this tour! Mayu explained to us the background of all the new food we were introduced to. All delicious! Maya made an effort to understand us so we felt the tour was tailored to our needs. Maya is a great host! Kanji was our guide and did a fantastic job. Very friendly and knowledgeable of Kyoto and Japanese customs.
There are public transport stages of the tour and was very easy to combine with the walk. The pre event instructions were very helpful the day prior.
We got to see early some of the great sites including the Bamboo forest and Golden Temple in advance of the large crowds later in the day. Being September was a warm day but the early start is recommended.
Our group was a maximum of 8 people and this made it small enough to keep very personal.

She was very knowledgeable about each place we stopped and made each stop efficient but never felt rushed. The driver was great and the van was always nice and cool. - Marybeth F1 contributionOur driver Yanagi was prompt and super friendly. The van was immaculate and comfortable. He figured out our itinerary based on the sights we wanted to see, and picked us up when we wandered away from the meet point. He arranged for our lunch and had us back to our hotel well before the scheduled end of the day. I plan on booking a tour when I return with my husband - so comfortable and an efficient way to pack a lot of sights into a single day. I would go for another class anytime — Mana is an excellent and patient teacher! She made the practice of Ikebana accessible in an afternoon when it can take a lifetime to learn and master. Austen knew the ins and outs of the main sights we wanted to see and even gave us tips for which parts of the tours would be great photo opportunities! Bonus: he took great photos of us! Austen also pointed our places during our tour we should grab some souvenirs, a great matcha drink spot, and which food stalls were worthy.
