Fantastic experience! Ernesto was so engaging when explaining more about Costa Ricans and their history. San Jose is a lovely city and you will definitely get the best out of your stay through this your. Incredible value and incredible people who run it. Thank you to all of them - highly recommended!

Had a tremendous tour by Angel who’s very knowledgeable about the history of San Jose and Costa Rica, and is very passionate about sharing that. Highlights included the National Theatre and the very interesting Mercado Central. But is was a food tour and the gourmet dinner at a really interesting and intriguing restaurant was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend both this tour and Angel as your guide.

My cousin and I recently had a short stay in San Jose, We chose this tour and had a MARVELOUS experience with our guide Giovanni. He arrived on time to pick us up from our hotel. From the hotel we headed up to the Volcano- before reaching our destination we stopped at this beautiful coffee shop that had some of the BEST coffee I've ever drank! The cafe overlooked a magnificent coffee farm. Next we stopped at La Paz waterfall and then onto Volcan Paos- the scenes were SPECTACULAR. Giovanni was the PERFECT tour guide! He was extremely personable and I felt like everyone knew him and the tour was very personal and friendly...Giovanni even got the owner Mariella of a local restaurant to create a beautiful fruit boquet for my cousin celebrating her birthday- it was TRULY a perfect day with a perfect guide!! Some things to note...the tour was filled with activity- there was minimal walking and was good for those that are in good shape but you dont need to be super fit- the roads are narrow and EVERYONE in San Jose drives agressively.

Our tour guide was knowledgeable, showed us exciting places to get tasty fruits and exotics items only in Costa Rica at a good price. And he looks like Roger Federer.

The tour was informative and enjoyable. Our guide, Eduardo Castro was very knowledgeable and professional. The Doka Coffee Tour was excellent, we got a complete tour of the coffee process, from the time the bean is placed in the ground to the time is package. Recommend this tour if you are interested in coffee.
The tour in Sarchi was interesting, we went to where the carts are painted, from the
carts that are sold in the stores to the carts that are seen throughout Costa Rica. Also, good deals in their store.
We stopped in Grecia and saw a church completely built in metal, something I have
never seen in any of my previous trips to many countries.
    Highly recommend this tour.

This is an 18 mile trip through level 1-4 rapids and it was not only thrilling but naturally beautiful. The waters and jungle are pure - like it was hundreds of years ago. You have to be prepared to get totally wet, and work hard with your team to keep the raft moving in the right way.

We booked this trip through Exploradores Outdoors. Our guide Andres was attentive and very knowledgeable.

    We had a fantastic experience.

We had a great time on our bike tour. Our guide, Malo, was really wonderful. He took us on quite an adventure. He recognized that we were pretty experienced riders, so we took a bit more difficult route in order to go to a beautiful park. He peppered the trip with history and information about the city. Our trip ended at a very nice coffee shop where they explained the growing, brewing and exporting processes of Costa Rican coffee.

Great tour! We loved all the different craft beers! We are from Northern California were we have a lot of Micro Breweries and you can tell there is love and forethought that goes in to the flavors and infusions of Costa Rica crafted beer. Thank you Eric for a great tour and great evening!

Great information about coffee and hysterical of Costa Rica. Without mask it would have been more informative. This is not against the Britt company it’s against the useless rules they have to follow. Our guide dit his best. He was great.

I booked the combo tour via web site (Viator), and paid for tickets. On the reservation form requested the local traveling company (Vive Travel) to contact me to finalize the details of transportation pick up. At the time of reservation, the web form indicated the local transportation would pick up at any private residence or selected hotel list in the San Jose area.
After not hearing back from local touring company, contacted Viator, explained the situation. I was instructed to go to a specific hotel as suggested by Viator and was also told that they had made note with the local touring company to pick me up at that location by 5:00AM on the touring day. I was also given local touring company contact information via WhatsApp and phone # to call if required.

Decided to drive two hours and stay at the local recommended hotel the night before tour. Checked into the hotel and reached out to local touring company via WhatsApp informing them of my location. WhatsApp confirmed that they read the message but the local traveling company did not respond back.

Finally 8:00PM the night before the tour, I called Viator and informed them that I have had zero feedback from local touring company and was started to get concerned about the being picked up from the hotel.

After one hour of phone call with Viator, I was told to go to the hotel lobby area and was assured that someone would be picking us up for transport. Was in the lobby before 5:00AM, and still no sign of transportation. Called Viator, and was told to wait till 6:00AM and call back again. 6:00AM still no sign of local transportation.

Called Viator, got the refund, but could not believe the agent attempted to sell me another tour package. Seriously!

Four calls to Viator, multiple attempts via email to local travel touring company, several confirmed WhatsApp messages and our planned day of going on several tours got completely abolished with significant disappointments.

I hold Viator completely responsible for what happened and this is false advertisement on their behalf. Although they refunded my money, I would never ever book anything with them again.

Book at your own risk. Don't expect too much and be ready for being disappointed.

The tour was very informative and fun. We got to see every side of cacao from the plant, to the fruit, all the way to a final chocolate product. It was very fun and interactive, would definitely recommend for couples or families.

We joined the pub crawl mid February with visiting friends from Argentina, the United States, Italy and The Philippines. It was a great way to spend time together, have our guests see some of San José, and learn more about Costa Rica from locals.

We had previously joined Carpe Chepe for the free city tour, and since we had a good time then, we decided to sign up for this pub crawl. We were not disappointed. All of our friends enjoyed themselves and we got to discover some new places ourselves as well.

We visited different bars and didn't have to wait in line at any of the these places. This was really nice because some of the bars had lots of people lined up outside waiting for their turn to go inside. The guides were very friendly, bilingual, and made sure everyone enjoyed their night out. They seemed to be having a good time themselves as well and they kinda just felt like part of our group!

It sometimes took a while to get drinks, but other than that we had zero complaints. We would definitely sign up for this pub crawl again in the future, or try one of the other tours that Carpe Chepe offers. If you're looking for a fun night out, this is it!

Our family of 5 had an educational, delicious, and fun tour with Marcos. We signed up last minute for a Christmas Eve tour of the market and they accommodated us. We all learned a lot about the history, culture and food of Costs Rica. Marcos’ stories were engaging and kept everyone’s attention the entire time, Having done many private tours in our travels, we rate this as one of our favorites! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn about San Jose and experience the market with a local.

We had a great day beginning with out tour guide, Gerrardo with Greenway Nature Day Tours. He was on time, picking us up at our hotel in San Jose in a very comfortable Hyundai mid-size SUV. He provided bottled water, and was great in answering our questions along the way about Costa Rican culture, life, and some of the great things Costa Rica is doing, as well as challenges for the future of the country. Gerrardo was also very accommodating, stopping a few times along the way to allow us to take pictures at scenic sights. Once at the site of the chocolate tour and suspension bridge hike, Carolina took over as our guide. She has an undergraduate in biology from the University of Costa Rica. She was very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, as well as pointing out different insect, amphibian, and tropical wildlife while hiking to the jungle cultivation site. The walk across the suspension bridge was amazing, with wonderful views of the river and the surrounding area. With her co-worker Theresa, they talked us through the traditional method of producing chocolate from the cacao, including cultivation and its historical impact both locally and globally.
