This was fabulous. Angel was our guide and was deeply knowledgeable about not only Costa Rican food and customs but also the history of the country and all of the different populations that have lived and mixed here to create local food customs and flavors. He took ample time to explain things and to answer our questions. We took our 19-year-old grandson, and he had a great time too. Angel indulged our desire to practice our Spanish sometimes. Our group included people from the UK, USA, Canada and Germany. Great food samplings included idles of local fruit and juice, ceviche, warm yummies—after tamales, we all cooked our own empanadas at the end—and a wonderful coffee tasting from Mr. Sloth’s Coffee.
