Nice little excursion through the city and market. I enjoyed every minute of it. Not a lot of tours will utilize your time good. This tour was so enjoyable.

More a tour + local dinner than cooking class. Our guide Angel was amazing. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about Costa Rican history. We were able to stop by a local coffee shop to taste coffee from a local plantation. The food and drinks were delicious and I recommend this tour as the first thing you do when in San Jose so you can get acquainted with the city as well as have potential tourists to connect with while visiting.

    Emil is a fantastic guide!

The tour almost got cancelled due to weather and others ended up cancelling or rescheduling, but I joined and Emil ended up giving me a private tour.

We toured mostly east from the meet point to Barrio Escalante, which is well worth the walk! A beautiful area with good restaurants serving excellent food.

My big thanks goes to Emil. Wise beyond his years, he is extremely knowledgeable and is perfectly fluent in English. I learnt a lot of Costa Rican history from him. He is a clear communicator, friendly and positive.

The trip was amazing - very well organized. Charly the driver - was excellent - avoided every traffic jam - and was very good in explaining - both in English and in Spanish.
Event though - it was raining period in Costa Rica- it did not matter - because the outdoors (Vulcano and waterfalls) had been put early in the morning, when it was still dry.
Afternoon we visited a Coffee farm with food, Coffee and a guided tour through coffee processing- excellent and very interesting.
All in all - 5 stars and - highly recommend.
    Cheers Michel

Amazing tour to say the least. The tour guide was informative, engaging, and comical the entire tour. I now know how to drink coffee the correct way and understand the coffee process from seed to cup. Lunch was incredible as well. Highly recommend experience.

Came here on a Caravan tour. we had a pretty good included lunch before touring the coffee plantation. The plantation was nice we heard about how the plants are planted, how the beans grow and are harvested. we then walked thru the factory as the guide explained how the beans are processed, bagged and blended for sale. It wasn't picking season so we didn't get to see it in action.

Afterwards we got samples to try in the gift shop.

10/10 experience. We booked this tour on a whim and had so much fun. The host Pedro was great and had every detail planned out perfectly. We went to numerous bars where we were given several different shots to try from. Played fun, interactive games and met new people from all over the world. After bar hopping the host was also nice enough to take us to get some traditional Costa Rican late night bites. Overall it was a really cool experience, make sure to come on a full stomach!

I enjoyed learning of the history of cocoa. The unique taste, from the raw, slightly bitter to the smooth, velvety liquid chocolate. Sampling the cocoa at different stages was a delight. The transformation from bean to bar and its stages cocoa butter, powder and chocolate. The culmination of the tour was crafting my own chocolate treats and decorating my bar package.

Thank you for the good time.

This was an outstanding tour. Our guide was knowledgeable about history, culture, art, food and had great stories to tell. He was flexible and eager to answer all of our questions. It was one of the many highlights of our time in Costa Rica and we highly recommend it. The riding was easy and not very far with lots of stops.

This is an amazing walking tour! You will see the local market, several restaurants, and a few local spots off the main track. Tons of local food, history, & culture! Go with an empty stomach.

If you are looking for a “budget friendly tour” and have a short time to spend in Costa Rica, then you should take this tour.
Don Ricardo was very kind, patient, and fun, besides he is a great driver.
I enjoy shopping souvenirs in Sarchi, as well as spending time in the butterfly garden at Doka coffee farm. The grounds in the coffee farm are lovely!

Although the drive is long (2 hours from San Jose), the trip and tour were TOTALLY worth it! During the drive out (in a super comfortable bus) our guides from Greenway pointed out sights, information, and wildlife along the way.

At Tirimbina, they handed us off to a naturalist from the ecological preserve that walked us out to the chocolate tour. The presentation on the preserve took us on a historical, culinary, and sensory experience from raw beans through processed chocolate. We were able to experience and sample throughout the presentation and it was honestly some of the best chocolate we’ve ever tried. It was delicious and really fun, and the park is gorgeous and teeming with wildlife.

After the chocolate tour we stopped for lunch in a location that had a ton of birds and other creatures to see (frogs, coati, etc)

I should perhaps mention that the chocolate sampled is on the pure/more bitter end of the chocolate spectrum. My kids (who are now college students) agreed they might not have appreciated the flavors when they were younger and prefered sweeter chocolate.
