I want to start with the positives because the day was great overall! I can’t remember our guide’s name but she was great! Friendly and personable and helpful. The beach was beautiful (skip the “trails” if it’s hot. There was one beautiful look out point but we wouldn’t have paid to do the trails just for that.) the water was clear and so pleasant! Our meal was good. It was nice to let the driver worry about traffic while we relaxed and looked out the windows. (Iykyk- Costa Rica traffic)
The negative is that the pickup process was so stressful for us. We didn’t find out until the night before that there is no parking at the pickup spots. (We even tried to pay to park at the hotel we met at…NOPE.) we had to leave our rental car in this really sketchy place and pray it was there 13 hours later when we returned. Thankfully it was.
Tips: take your beach stuff in a water resistant bag! Bring dry clothes for after (you can’t get on the bus wet/sandy). Chairs are $10/chair at the island and there are fun drinks that cost so bring money with you! Oh and sunscreen. Oops. 🤦🏻‍♀️

August and Christian were great!! August was super knowledgeable about every place we went and was also just a great person to be around.
We went to la fortuna waterfall which was amazing and then did a short hike to see the volcano and the hot springs was a nice way to end the day.
    Great experience!!

A nice excursion from San Jose. We saw beautiful birds, a sloth and a coatis, but no monkeys. The beach is stunning and the water is perfect. The guide was knowledgeable and generous, he did a great job pointing out animals during the first part of the park. We had expected the guide to join us on the second part, but we hiked alone and did not see animals. Lunch after the tour at a nearby hotel restaurant was delicious. The tour is recommend but keep your expectations of seeing animals well-managed.

We had an excellent experience with Steven. We saw tucons, humming birds, iguanas, vultures, and sloths. The ziplining experience was breathtaking and the hotsprings relaxing. Our guide Steven was helpful, considerate, ans went out of the way to make us feel comfortable.

We visited the gardens as part of a Viator day tour from San Jose. The gardens are set in extraordinarily beautiful surroundings. Walking the gardens and seeing the animals and waterfalls are a truly wonderful experience. Everything here is so serene and peaceful, like you are one with nature.

This was our first trip to Costa Rica, and we visited many different parts of the country. We expected to see many animals in the various locations, but it’s not as easy as you are led to believe. We had guides as part of our tours, having binoculars and zoom lenses, pointing out wildlife we wouldn’t have spotted ourselves. This is especially true of the sloths. While we saw several, they are so far up in the trees that they are almost unrecognizable.

I bring this up as a positive reason to visit La Paz. Here you can see the animals up close, including sloths, toucans, monkeys, jaguars, ocelots and hummingbirds. Al of the animals are rescues. This sanctuary is very well maintained and the animals look very well cared for. The waterfalls are beautiful as well. Seeing 5 consecutive waterfalls in the same area along a quiet nature walk is amazing. There is a place where you can see two in one spot.
A buffet lunch was included in our tour and there were plenty of good choices to pick from, offering Costa Rican and American foods.

One thing I’d like to clarify are the steps on the waterfall trail. Other reviewers are correct, there are a lot of steps, 500+. Yes, most are going down, and the paved trail has handrails with dappled shade throughout, making it a pleasant walk. But, there are a good number of stairs going back up at the end of the trail just to get to the gift shop and shuttle bus, I’d estimate about 100+. So you need to take that in consideration. For younger people it will be a breeze. But for older visitors, it may be challenging depending on your activity level. It’s also at the end, which is a little tiring walking up all those steps. So, you don’t have to walk all the way back to the entrance, you can take the shuttle, but you will have to walk up several steps from the La Paz Waterfall to get to the shuttle location. We’re glad we brought our walking sticks!

In addition, getting to the big cats enclosures requires a steep walk to get to that area. And, there are many other areas that incorporate steps throughout the park, meaning this park is not handicap accessible.

So, if you are up for the hike, definitely visit this incredibly beautiful spot and enjoy the animals and the scenic waterfalls. Pura Vida!

Good trip. Trip details could have been released sooner with times and locations for pickup. All in all it all worked out.

The tour with insides tour to Tortuga Island was very enjoyable. I went with 3 other people and it was an all day event. Got picked up @ 4:45 am and returned back to hotel close to 7 pm. When booking there is a pick up points you can choose from.

    Pros
    1. 5 full hours on the beach...gorgeous
    2. snorkeling is offered
    3. on the way to the island the boat stopped so we can see dolphins swimming. AMAZING!!!!
    4. Our tour guide Diana was so wonderful. She even helped my nephew when he went snorkeling.
    5. The bus they picked us up with was super NICE and clean
    6. Stop for breakfast and bathroom break and Souvenir shop
    7. On the island, the drinks are amazing. They had Mojitos, Margaritas and Pina Coladas. The cost about $8-$10.
    8. Lunch is provided and its included in the tour payment.
    9. there are banana boats and water rafting I believe, we didn't partake on this activity but you can for a cost.
    10. It was RELAXING and there are chairs with umbrellas you can rent for $10.

    Cons
    1. the place we stopped at for breakfast, the food was pretty awful. My friends and I couldn't swallow it. It cost about $10 but man. No flavor, so much salt and the option is just basic. Coffee tasted like it was a burnt coffee mixed with milk. So it was money wasted. You are better off with some protein bars and make your own coffee at the hotel before leaving. I am not sure how much influence the tour company has to have them do better and if not maybe finding another spot if possible for a breakfast option.
    2. Lunch included rice, salad, and choice of Chicken, fish, or veggies (you choose one protein) and its fillet fried. The portion is very small and by the time we got back we were starving. It tasted good but very small portion. They sell fresh Ceviche and other fresh fish snacks on the beach but very small portion for like $10 which wasn't worth it.

All in all the pros are higher than the cons and would recommend inside tours 100%. ENJOY :)

Good tour, awesome guide who knows the area and history. I do recommend bringing a small bag in case you want things from the gift shops and to store your personal items.

First of all, the pick-up time was almost on time but I consider it should have started a little bit earlier to take advantage of surroundings and daylight.

The views were amazing, we should had spent more time around though. The villages are cute but too much time there, I really expected to see more around the volcano area.

It was rainy and cloudy, but that didn’t stop the amazing pictures and the good time spent there.

If you go solo, avoid this kind of activities because you spent three long hours at the hot springs and honestly, you wouldn’t like it by yourself trust me, better if you go with friends or significant other.

Food was ok, lunch service though, kinda moody the waiter, and dinner just ok. It was my birthday so I expected to do something extra with extra cost of course, but there’re weren’t any activities or amenities.

But, I spent a wonderful time all in all.

The volcano was covered in smoke but I still give this experience 10/10 the guide was so bubbly and sweet! When we got to the hot springs I was in love I didn’t want to leave we spent a good 4 hours there and it was therapeutic! The food was amazing (buffet style ) and drinks were great as well. This was probably my fav experience on the trip this far.

This was a very long but very satisfying day. After viewing crocodiles at the Tarcoles River bridge we went to Manuel Antonio Park. Our driver suggested that we hire a wildlife guide and we are very glad that we did. We saw five sloths (both kinds) and three kinds of monkeys. We finished up at a beautiful protected beach and enjoyed a nice swim.

A great way to see many of the beautiful sights all in one day. Each stop on the tour was beautiful and you have enough time at each to take in an appreciate the beauty you’ll see. We also got to each location early enough that there were no crowds. At the coffee tour there is a hike to another waterfall that was beautiful but a challenge if you’re not prepared for it! It’s a long day but very worth it!

The tour guide was very good and made extra effort to show us as many animals on the way. The boat operator was very good. This tour should be done only during the turtles egg laying season.
