A great culture and food tour of San Jose town centre. Our guide Andrea took us through the food markets where we were able to try many different types of fruit and other local specialties. We also visited some of the city centre buildings including St Joseph’s church and the National Theatre. The final stop included freshly made tamales, a chance to make our own plantain tortillas and an explanation of the Costa Rica way to make smooth coffee. Three hours approx and well worth it.
We went on a Saturday so the town centre was busy with locals shopping. It was also a hot day and we walked a lot so pack water to drink and wear comfortable shoes.

Our guide, Daniel, was very personable and knowledgeable. He walked us through the market explaining many things and also through the city, stopping and telling us about plants, trees, buildings and history. A very enjoyable tour. The drinks and food were good. Well worth the cost. Thank you for a wonderful evening in San Jose!

This trip was to celebrate my birthday. The trip ran on time and Harlem & Randall were professional and courteous. I always felt safe. The group was great! I've experienced a volcano tour before, so the hot springs were the highlight for me. I thought we would get closer to the volcano, but I was pleased nonetheless.

Sara was our guide She welcomed us with enthusiasm and love for nature. The tour was just so amazing and enjoyable and I would highly recommend it. Great sloth spotting too! We saw both two toed and three toed!
We also visited San Gerardo de Dota to spot the quetzals when we saw a guy from Oropopo tours as well. We told him about Sara and the amazing tour we had in San Jose. Although we did not book the quetzal tour with them he did invite us to follow him so he could show us the wonderful birds. That was just so nice. I would definitely book another Oropopo experience next time when we visit Costa Rica.

We had a wonderful time learning about the history of San Jose! The stops for drinks and food were amazing and Jorge made sure to check that my wife’s gluten allergy would not be a problem. We also were able to experience the rainy season lol don’t forget an umbrella!

The tour guide was knowledgeable, experienced, enthusiastic, friendly, entertaining and kept us interested and informed throughout the tour. I had an excellent experience learning about Costa Rica while enjoying the food, atmosphere and great company. Thanks Jezabel, you are beautiful inside and out. I enjoyed our conversations.

Great activity for solo travelers! I'm beyond grateful with Crawl Tours. Not only did I enjoy this activity, but I also booked my transportation from/to the airport and to the activity itself. Pedro went above and beyond to accommodate a last-minute change to my flight, and he ensured I made it to the tour. My driver, Fabian, was amazing. He made me feel welcome and gave me tips about the area. He was on time picking me up from all places. Excellent company, do not hesitate to contact them for your travel and transportation needs!

I really enjoyed the food tour but found that the listing was misleading. I thought we were going on a food tour then the museum but we just walked into the lobby.

    TOUR GUIDE
Our guide was Gravin / Chu cho (I’m not sure if I spelt his name/nickname correctly). Some tours have a guide and a separate driver. Gravin was both and did such an amazing job. He was full of great knowledge and answered all questions. It was also really nice of him to introduce everyone on the bus and where we were from. It’s the little things!

    IRAZU VOLCANO
We drove to the top of the active volcano where we spent about 20/30 minutes taking in the view and taking pictures. Even though it was 10 degrees Celsius, I wasn't really cold (and I was wearing shorts). It was very windy, so bear that in mind if you’re wearing a hat!

Note that you won’t see a lake as the water dried up back in 2019 I think.

    LANKESTER GARDENS
This tour around the botanic garden was nice. Again, our guide was so full of knowledge and was telling us about the life cycle of the plants. There was some free time to walk around the Japanese garden at the end.

    LUNCH
This was the last thing on the tour – it was tasty. You get a starter, main and dessert with coffee.

The lunch was by a VERY beautiful lake. I definitely recommend walking down and just taking in the serene view and silence.

N.B. there were other stops along the way, e.g., a Roman Catholic basilica, the Ujarras lookout site, the ruins of the oldest church in the city. This tour is jam-packed.

5 stars only because our guide was exceptional. Mateus-Emil, a young man who just graduated from high school, very knowledgeable, charming and who spoke fluent English. It was an easy, pleasant walk. We paid for a private tour.

This is not a food tour. We did sample a couple of things but that wa it. That being said there should such a tour with a real focus on food.
