- CravelloOklahoma69 contributionsFrom vividly painted balsa masks to tightly woven indigenous baskets, the array of hand-crafted works offered at Namu are for every curious eye to behold and take home. Sadly, this gallery outlet has fallen victim to escalating focus on progress interests and will be (if not already) sealed away from public access forever, taking with it the much needed financial assistance it provided for the many creative peoples of Costa Rica - most of which relied on for survival. My visit in late 2015 (not 2024) was intentionally driven by my desires as an artist before landing in CR and Namu proved gem worthy, bolstered by its proprietor, Conall French as a bonus as well. After returning home to Oklahoma, I made additional purchases from love of traditional Centro American art alone and treasure those pieces dearly to this day. From the time of our arrival at the airport to the time of departure, they were always there as promised getting us from point A to point B. The drivers were kind, on time, and capable. The vans were clean and ran well. We liked the variety of stays: charming cabins in Arenal, posh mountain elegance in Monteverde, and spacious legacy coastal balcony suite in Manuel Antonio with an incredible view of the Pacific. We enjoyed all the planned activities and the balance of down time. We were a couple traveling with a 70 yr old family member who had the time of her life. - Departure5463253 contributionsWe would definitely, and highly, recommend My Costa Rica for planning your trip to Costa Rica! They planned EVERYTHING for us and all we had to do was show up. We were not too sure what to expect so we gave them our preferences (as they ask) but pretty much gave them carte blanche to plan a 4-week trip for us . I am so glad we did, as it was the most amazing holiday we have ever had! The friendliness, efficiency and professionalism from the beginning to the end, and from everyone involved, was impeccable: The staff we communicated with while planning our trip; Our representative, Lorena, who was waiting for us at the airport to go over our itinerary before we set out with our first driver, the various drivers we had along the way, picking us up and taking us to our next destination (always professional, friendly and punctual making the trips always fun and informative), and to our concierge team who promptly replied to any questions or requests during our trip positively and enthusiastically. We cannot even begin to describe the amazing places, accommodations and the tours they booked for us! We were surprised and delighted every day! in summary, Costa Rica is a beautiful country with amazing people, wildlife, sea life, bird life and incredible ecosystems (not to mention the wonderful food and drinks!), and we thank MyCostaRica.Org for making sure we didn't miss one part of what it has to offer! They made the trip beyond what we could have asked for! - M C17 contributionsThis company is excellent. Absolutely wonderful. I almost never write reviews, and I'm usually hesitant to give such lavish praise, but Costa Rica Expeditions deserves every bit of it.
We decided to visit CR in Feb, but were doing all this planning at the last minute. I didn't have time to do the research and booking on my own, so I used a travel agent, which I almost never do. I found Costa Rica Expeditions in one of the big name guide books. Thank goodness I did. From the moment I first sent our "wish list" the service from this company has been remarkably flawless.
Elena quickly built an exciting itinerary based on our wishes. With only a couple of changes we were all set. Every single detail was arranged. Airport transfers, air/boat, meals (when we asked), hotels. The communication was professional, excellent, and very responsive. Our trips to Osa/Corcovado and Tortugero were magnificent!!! I can't say enough good things.
Every CRE employee we worked with was kind, professional, and deeply knowledgeable. They were in constant communication with us. When we returned to San Jose, I had the last second idea to try to get tickets to a futbol game -- and within a few hours, Costa Rica Expeditions came through. They helped us get tickets and transportation, and we watched an incredible match at Saprissa's home ground!
Finally, a measure of a company is its willingness to learn and improve. I was impressed that in her final email to me, Elena asked specifically for feedback on how they can improve. I couldn't think of anything, but the fact that she asked for detailed feedback says a lot about the company.
Costa Rica Expeditions is very pricey. But you get what you pay for. I've never had to work so little for such an incredible vacation. Worth every penny. He was so knowledgeable and it was such a treat to learn about San Jose, Costa Rican culture, and see the sites. Definitely go hungry. Lots to taste. Lots to learn. Worth every penny.
