- teresaerickson1 contributionWe took a 12 day birding tour mainly in the interior of Costa Rica. Our guide was Erick Castro - an incredibly gifted bird and wildlife guide who made our trip interesting, fun and memorable. Even though we went during the height of the Costa Rica summer when birding isn't considered as productive, we saw 253 species of birds and dozens of mammels, snakes, vipers, butterflys, and bugs that disguise themselves.
Costa Rica Focus booked stays for us at some beautiful eco lodges - most of which were great and a couple were not very great but all in all it we had a great time. Adriana was attentive and responsive and impressive in her professionalism
Erick took us on hikes through beautiful forests where we rarely encountered anyone else.
It was a plus that we traveled as two couples so only four of us and Erick. We received close attention and got to know Erick who shared so much about Costa Rica. It made the trip even better.

We've done a lot of travelling, particularly since retirement a few years ago, and I can unqualifiedly say that touring with Christian, JuanCarlo and Manrique has been the best country experience ever. It turned this trip to CR (our second) into a trip of a lifetime. We did 5 days of tours, plus two beach days, with Sol Tropical and the tours were comprehensive, well planned and orchestrated, with the best stops and food included. We never would have been able to plan and see all the sites, and do all the things that we did on our own without the expertise, knowledge and experience of Christian and his team. Christian's passion for his country was evident throughout, and he and his team were engaging and simply great guides and people. Our two guests with us (one each week) were both blown away by their experiences. Rutas Costa Rica is a good organisation that helped us create our itinerary (Arenal, Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Corcovado) in the precise way we asked.
The people working there, especially Alberto, in our case, did a great job advising us in every needed case.

We booked the “deluxe 8 day” package through Groupon and we were surprised at how accommodating everybody was. We were picked up at the airport by Luis, whom is one of the hardest working people we have ever met. We stayed at the Lavas del Arenal hotel, which is simple, but very clean and quiet (except for the occasional cicada and howler monkey jungle sounds!)
Luis is the organizer for basically the entire trip and Sophia handles the cooking and cleaning. The rooms were completely cleaned, I mean, all new towels every single day, your laundry is washed and folded for you, the bedding was changed entirely halfway through the week too. The breakfast everyday was fantastic and half of the nights we ate dinner at the hotel and it was also delicious. We really enjoyed our stay. As for the activities- wow! Each day was an awesome and super fun activity with a delicious lunch included. This wasn’t a bag lunch either, it was a full plate of hot food with fresh juice of some sort each day. So tasty! The tour companies they used for the hikes was called “Red Lava tours” and the guides were great, informative, with a keen eye for spotting wildlife and showing it to you through a cool optic. The ziplining and water tubing company was called “go adrenaline” and these guides were all over the place, running around seamlessly making sure we were safe and having a great time. The whitewater rafting tour company was “costa rica descents” and those guides were so much fun. That was our favorite activity of the week. Overall, everyone was awesome and worked so hard to make sure guests are always taken care of and having a great time. They were excellent, it is very difficult to get reservations to do this in our experience.. these guys booked everything for us including the hotel Urán the night before. They answered all our questions quickly and even wanted us to message when we got to base camp and down again. - Aaron S3 contributionsI recently came back from the 2 day rafting trip. It was the most authentic activity that we did in all of Costa Rica. Luis, is an incredible rafter and host. The meals were fantastic and he was so much fun. He really made the experience. He should be commended for such a great experience.

Adriana designs tours for individuals, small and large groups. She provides hotels, transport, guided tours, entrance fees etc. She heeds your wishes and makes suggestions for improvement. Her service is cheap and absolutely responsible. - Deb1 contributionI give 5 starts to this company. I asked Luis to put together this trip with multiple stops in Costa Rica. He listened to all my request, he sent me the proposal and i agree to the itinerary. As usual i was not expecting everything going perfecr. But as soon my husband and i arrived in Liberia airport, he was waiting for us. We were super hungry from our early flught from Denver. So he offered us to take us to a local restaurant where we enjoyed of lunch and very cheap price. After that he took us to our hotel, he helped us to check in and make sure we were hapoy with our room. The tour and stayed at Pachia Lodge was the best part of our 16days package. We got to go to the Tortuguero and were able to see the turtle realease. So glad Luis recomended to us. Again, tranaportation between hotels towns and canal were well organized. We are talking again with him about returning and spens some time in San Jose, Arenal and Monteverde. Cant wait for May 2020 trip. We really recomend him and hia services. You will never be alone and he will always will keep in touch
