This little gem of a market next to the Lacroze Train station sells organic and healthier food. Having lived in Colorado and California for most of my adult life, healthier food options were abundant. This is not necessarily the case here in Argentina. Although this market is "meat heavy", all the items here are top notch. I even found wheatgrass (albeit juiced and frozen into ice cubes). The cheese and deli section is ridiculously delicious and affordable. The produce section is great with homemade jams, pickles and vinegars. Vegan pasta is available. Herbs, spices and all that good stuff is plentiful. You will also find goat milk here. The organic ice cream on the way out is fantastic. There is also a parilla just outside. This place is quite charming and a great place to spend a sunny day on the lawn with all your delicacies...Only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A really cool place.

Calle Juramento 2527, Buenos Aires: A real discovery -- well off the beaten tourist path. Many ethnic deli's with German sausages, Vietnamese Nems, Imported Draft/Craft Beers & gourmet burgers. We loved the giant hamburgers & fries Lowell's Biergarten & a dozen other inexpensive sit-down restaurants. Gourmet cooking utensils, well worth a visit. Across the street is Coto a huge supermarket with the biggest & cheapest selection of supermarket stuff. What surprised us (after living in France) was that stuff like Liver, Kidneys, Sweetbreads, Tongue was unbelievably cheap- I mean like a USA a dollar or two per kilo. The Argentines just don't seem to eat that "offal" stuff much, considering it to be pet food. In my other reviews, I mention that anything grown or produced in Argentina is half of the EU or USA price (or less) while imported stuff tends to be double the prices or more.

The market is a great place to find fresh yoghurt, cheese and milk. The deli shop has a a good range of salami and cooked meats.

The staff are friendly and keen to help.
