Compared to some other castle ruins that I’ve visited recently, Castle Acre was slightly underwhelming. - Steve_of_N21London, UK3,285 contributionsFirst time to visit Kings Lynn and having parked in the multi storey in the centre and walked through what passes as a shopping centre I didn’t think it had much going for it, until I got to here. The Old Town and the Quays is definitely the most picturesque part of town and contains some fine historical buildings, such as this one and The Minster opposite.
This fine stone building originates from the 1400’s and has had various uses over the years and multiple visits from reigning monarchs. The hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas. So, she explained all about the origins of The Minster and its associated Priory. We were greeted by knowledgeable and friendly volunteers and handed a leaflet which pointed out some of the many features of interest.
