This is one of the many great Northumberland beaches. For a great one hour walk, head North along the beach to the end of the Village Golf Course, then follow the walkers' path up to the top of the headland and sit for a while on the bench near the holiday "pods" to admire the fantastic views. From there head back towards Alnmouth between the two golf courses (Alnmouth Village Golf Club on your left and Foxton Hall over the fence to your right), keeping a look out for stray golf balls! When you reach the old stone Battery, either go down left back towards the beach car park or straight on for Alnmouth village, past the beacon and the Friary.
The Aln estuary is also worth a look if you head South from the car park, but crossing should NEVER be attempted.

This is a very interesting little museum. Full of information about the Ferryman and his role. Loads of photographs. Very cute little hut!

Situated on the south side of the estuary(Alnmouth town on North side),you have a long, long walk to reach this hill over stony, uneven ground, which I wouldn't advise anyone with walking difficulties to try!
As well as having a cross to St.Cuthbert on the top,the hill also has a small derelict church on the side of it.
Views over Alnmouth, its beach and River Aln estuary are spectacular and you realize the walk here was worth it.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a friend who was staying at Alnmouth Friary for a retreat. It was my first visit and was delighted with what I experienced, namely, a warm welcome from the Friars, a peaceful and prayerful environment amongst beautiful surroundings and something I would like to do again. I was unable to stay for prayers but must say the whole atmosphere points one to Christ and to prayer.

It was possible to spend an hour in private prayer in one of the chapels over looking the sea. This was a very precious experience and a wonderful place to be.

The footpaths along this coastal walk from Alnmouth or from Foxton Hall are spectacular and afford lovely views over the golf courses and out to the sea beyond. It is most interesting to reveal and enjoy aspects of the history of this location en route.

Popped into Alnmouth to visit the Village Cafe only to discover it closed for annual holiday. Hungry and disappointed I ventured into the golf clubhouse. What a revelation. A modest menu of sandwiches, baked potatoes and burger but very modestly priced. Service was quick, comfortable lounge with lovely views over course. Outside seating available. Excellent burger. Well worth a visit

Good range of art including a lot of printmaking and some quality gifts.
Just a pity they do not serve coffee inside, the recent weather has been no use outdoors so we have had to go elsewhere for coffee.
Pre covid had tables inside, surely now this can be reestablished.
Also, not the gallery problem but parking in Alnmouth is terrible due to restrictions in main village, making area at gallery more attractive long tetm.

A lovely hall, now being refurbished, in this picturesque seaside village. A fantastic venue for family celebrations such as anniversaries and weddings. There is a lovely church within walking distance (even in a wedding dress!) and an abundance of accommodation. Everything you need for a perfect day available locally.
