For a great one hour walk, head North along the beach to the end of the Village Golf Course, then follow the walkers' path up to the top of the headland and sit for a while on the bench near the holiday "pods" to admire the fantastic views. From there head back towards Alnmouth between the two golf courses (Alnmouth Village Golf Club on your left and Foxton Hall over the fence to your right), keeping a look out for stray golf balls! When you reach the old stone Battery, either go down left back towards the beach car park or straight on for Alnmouth village, past the beacon and the Friary.

- IAN WSt Helens, UK3,978 contributionsSituated on the south side of the estuary(Alnmouth town on North side),you have a long,long walk to reach this hill over stony,uneven ground,which I wouldn't advise anyone with walking difficulties to try!
As well as having a cross to St.Cuthbert on the top,the hill also has a small derelict church on the side of it.

It was my first visit and was delighted with what I experienced, namely, a warm welcome from the Friars, a peaceful and prayerful environment amongst beautiful surroundings and something I would like to do again. I was unable to stay for prayers but must say the whole atmosphere points one to Christ and to prayer.
It was possible to spend an hour in private prayer in one of the chapels over looking the sea. - Berties Mum4 contributionsPopped into Alnmouth to visit the Village Cafe only to discover it closed for annual holiday. Hungry and disappointed I ventured into the golf clubhouse. What a revelation. A modest menu of sandwiches, baked potatoes and burger but very modestly priced. Service was quick, comfortable lounge with lovely views over course. Outside seating available. Just a pity they do not serve coffee inside, the recent weather has been no use outdoors so we have had to go elsewhere for coffee.
Pre covid had tables inside, surely now this can be reestablished.

- KnitonNewcastle2 contributionsA lovely hall, now being refurbished, in this picturesque seaside village. A fantastic venue for family celebrations such as anniversaries and weddings. There is a lovely church within walking distance (even in a wedding dress!) and an abundance of accommodation.
