Beautiful beach and we had fantastic weather. The beach was clean as were the toilets. The sea buckthorn was in full berry.

Gullane is simply one of the greatest golf experiences in the world. Tremendously friendly to visitors. The Visitors’ Clubhouse is maybe better than the Members’ facility. The three 18-hole courses mean you can always get a game. Gullane #2 is nearly as good as #1. And even #3 is a gem that is perfect for older players ( like me) and their wives.

When you get to the 7th tee on #1 you will have the greatest view in all of golf. Gullane Beach stretches out to the East, with Muirfield and Renaissance in full view. Turn to the West and you will look over Aberlady Bay to Kilspindie and up the Firth to Edinburgh, where the Castle is easily seen to the right of Arthur’s Seat. Absolutely stunning.

Turn your attention back to golf and you will begin a stretch of holes that will satisfy any golfer. My favorite is the 12th, a par-5 that can be reached in two if you can avoid the many bunkers.

Gullane is a great town too, where you can eat and drink very well. Golf everywhere. You’ll fall in love with the whole set-up. If you’re going there, I’m jealous!!

We were up in Gullane on a golfing break, so you may think it odd why we visited these intriguing ruins.
Churches do fascinate me, however ruins which are steeped in history intrigue me even further.
These ruins of St Andrews church are certainly worth a visit to find out all the history of years gone by.

The entire experience at Muirfield was top notch. As a low single digit handicapper and Having played many of the best/toughest private and public courses in the US, Ireland and now Scotland: Muirfield may be the most perfect golf course i have ever played: The Challenge, the architecture, the conditioning .....in short everything. When you play it take the time to notice the nuances of the course or....Ask Mr. Nicklaus what he thinks. The lunch, jacket and tie etc was such a great experience: when ordering a bottle of claret, they were out of the one i picked but our server said...Oh the members love this one....well well take that one please.

Muirfield is a do not miss for any Scotland golf trip (as are Gullane #1, St Andrews Old and (yes) Carnoustie (hail storm and all!) and Kingsbarn (on an incredible piece of property)

A busy Saturday without a plan and we arrived at The Old Club House in Gullane.
We sat down and were served by an attentive team to whom nothing was a problem and they produced food from the menu that was both filling and full of flavor. Haggis made a good plate and the cullen skink before was a meal in itself. 2 X Starters, 2 X Mains and drinks; all for under £40.00.
Thanks to the team for a great experience and I'm sure we will return when next in the area.

We had an incredible experience working with AJ Private Hire (thank you again Alan, Allan, Peter, and Ron)! We were so impressed by how prompt and professional the team was. They were also very flexible when a few of my plans changes over our four days of working together. It was also so easy to communicate with the team via WhatsApp. I absolutely recommend AJ Private Hire to anyone visiting the area!
