We arrived at 9am and it was empty, didn't see any other tourists, got to climb the ruins and see panoramic views. Saw a family of spider monkeys, toapi, and vulture looking birds on top of the ruins.

We drove and it was fine, some reviews say the one lane road is too difficult but it isn't, especially if you're from the UK and used to country lanes, lots of pot holes but drive slow.

A guard there was really nice and showed us round, even though there was a language barrier he was helpful, friendly and we managed to understand each other well.

    I loved it :)

The malecon is a nice area to walk along and view the water. There are a couple of prominent landmarks, such as the Chetumal sign and Mexico sign near the ferry terminal that are good for photos. There are also interesting murals of the Mayan gods along the road to the ferry terminal that are worth viewing if you have an interest in Mayan Culture.

Aviomar Adventours’ trip to the Kohunlich and Dzibanche ruins was the highlight of our visit to Costa Maya in 2023. This was booked through Virgin Cruises, by the way. While the drive is lengthy, the views and vistas are amazing. You get to climb some of the ruins, which you can’t do elsewhere, and there are far less tourists. Our guides Daniel Junior and Sarahi, as well as our driver Mario, were all terrific. I would add that the Costa Maya port area was well-planned and organized. I would definitely utilize Aviomar again in the future.

You walk, according to Mayan beliefs from the underworld to the heavens, the gods, following El Ceiba, the tree.
Nice setup for a museum. It would be even more interesting when all the audiovisuals would work.

The walk through the zoo was great. We see some fantastic vegetation but very few animals. The bird display was great. In the plant section the man there gave us a tour through the orchids and was very imformative

This site has a single pyramid that was a burial site for a Dzibanche ruler (farm land now separates the two areas so INAH has made them into two sites). I was the only visitor there and the host/guard/guide/groundskeeper gave me a tour. Certainly off the beaten path.

For those that like climbing pyramids, you can climb this one.

Liverpool is part of the shopping mall at The Mall. It is indeed package with all the goodies ranging from fashion, technology, groceries, restaurants and fun place for both kids and adults. Since it was a family vacation, we all had fun and enjoyed every bit of our stay at Liverpool.
My wife enjoyed her window shopping 🛍 and the kids had fun. I pay 💰 lol 😆

Tiger needs a better environment. It more looks like a prisoner than anything else. It needs more activites for the tiger to do

The beach has a beautiful view, as nice place to relax with a drink and it's very close to the small town. The only not that great thing is that it is very touristy

while the museum and th exhibition itself may be of limited interest, the building of the former Socialist School, built in the late 1930s, it itself the attraction. free to walk in and around. especially the outdoor stage and amphitheater are amazing.
