- JoyyyBarrie, Canada563 contributionsThe Museum is very interesting with a trail of historical displays put together well. Starts with a 14 minute video and then the theatre opens into the park(very cool). Log houses, stables and camps and all sorts of logging displays from the past. Very nice stroll. Worth the visit.Written October 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- spud0018Mississauga, Canada739 contributionsNice hike of shorter length - hike up to the edge of a cliff which gives you a lovely view of fall colours. Quite busy on weekends for viewing fall colours.Written October 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - I love dining outBath, UK527 contributionsHaving called in at the west gate to purchase our day pass - 21 CAD, we drove through the park and finally ended up at the visitor centre in the east side. It was well worth the stop off.
Lots of history and local info about the fauna & flora.
We would definitely recommend spending an hour here ‘learning’.Written June 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I followed another reviewer's advice and did the trail in reverse. I did this so I could experience the 'highlight' view right away, without the 'selfie invaders' around. This strategy worked, as we were the only ones there.
As we made our way to the final quarter of the hike, we passed quite a few people on their way to the 'postcard view.'
It took us 4 hours to do the trail.
If I were to go again, I would try to time it with the fall colours. If you go to the Algonquin Park website, they have a live cam at their visitor center, which gives you an idea of how the fall leaves look on any given day (although this is a separate location on Hwy 60).Written October 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The sights, like lookouts, rivers, and streams were awesome! Very well-kept, and is one of my favourite trails in the province. Highly recommend!Written September 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Colin MWhitby, Canada10 contributionsWe had stayed at Rock Lake in 2020, but didn't realize the Booth Rock hiking trail was right beside us. We were staying at Lake of 2 Rivers Campground in August 2021 and noticed this trail from the park newspaper and decided to try it. Again, the paper suggested 3 hours for this hike, but we completed it in 2 hours. Seems to be a common theme with the time suggestions in the paper. We are not speedy hikers. About average, I would say. The hike is 5.1km and has a fair bit of elevation, but it's gradual and didn't feel like it was too challenging. The views from the lookout were spectacular. Definitely worth the time to do this hike!Written September 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Philly413Newmarket, Canada1,255 contributionsThis was a great short winter hike and we had a picnic at the top. The weather was perfect for our Valentines Day hike. The road to the trailhead is plowed at gritted and it is currently frozen so a very smooth trip, no problem if you are in a car, once it thaws it will be a different story. There is parking at the trailhead for a few cars. We didn’t need snowshoes as the trail was packed but we had cleats as it was slippery in places. The bathrooms at the gate and at trailhead are buried in snow so plan accordingly. It’s a short trail but a little steep at the beginning.Written February 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just be careful in sections where the water level is almost rising over the boardwalk. Very pleasant walk.Written October 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dawn LGrimsby, Canada269 contributionsOMG We saw a moose!!!!!
Life is complete!
This is a beautiful, relatively flat trail that has turtles and lots of bodies of water
Don't bother doing the side trail for black bear nests. Nothing to see and trail not maintained This way and way more flies up there.
Definitely regretted going up there as it made it a very long 14.5k hike.
But with 1.5k to go I saw a moose!!!! We watched him eat for a while then he laid down.

Lots of wet spots as we went after a rain but there are some great views to be seen. - tripping10TorontoToronto, Canada42 contributionsEvery year while on a visit to Algonquin Park, we visit theis Art Centre. It never fails to disappoint. Fabulous local artist's works are displayed in a lovely gallery. We especially liked the canoes ringed around the building painted to reflect the famous paintings of Tom Thomson.Written September 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MustacheoKingston, Canada8 contributionsBeautiful, scenic views from many backcountry sites. This is a must see for any camping lover. Ideally, to get away from traffic and other campers you might try a more backcountry lake than Opeongo. It tends to have many taxis and other campers around, but not enough to really make it feel less like camping. Beware of a slight wind on Opeongo - it could make your Sunday paddle back to access point a VERY daunting and difficult one.Written September 29, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - T L3 contributionsA group of us wanted to do a little backcountry camping vacation end of August. First time for all of us so we decided to just hang out at one of the campsites around Provoking Lake for a few nights. Only 6km to our campsite (Provoking 3). Walked the trail around the lake (1st loop) on the second day without our heavy bags. Only took 4hrs to get back to our campsite and we spent time checking out the other sites along the way. They don't call it Highlands for nothing. Lots of up's and downs. A couple of tricky areas to manoeuvre through but a great day hike. No bugs and we lucked out with out rain or humidity. Great experience and will maybe attempt the 2nd loop next year.Written September 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
