Back in the early 2000's, I remember long line-ups to the Standard Hotel Downtown Rooftop due to the lack of elevators, and people being turned away due to overcrowding. This WAS the place to have a party in downtown LA.

There were no lineups on the Saturday evening that we came here to cap off our day of exploring DTLA. We were able to snag one of the few highboys along the edges of the bar. We had two rounds of mezcal margaritas and several bar bites from the menu, which I thought were excellent. Looking around, the patrons were definitely not the high energy, trendy crowd of the past. I suspect they have moved on to the next hot thing. But there's nothing like enjoying a cocktail surrounded by the tallest buildings in LA and enjoying the romantic early evening light of a city that still has not lost its ability to cast a spell.

Finding an 18+ club for New Years in LA was very difficult, so stumbling across a great club like this was amazing. We had such a good time, the music was great, the people were great. There was a smoking area outside and a lot of drama-free people so it made for a great night. The only downsides: a long line to get in, and we got there at like 11 so it was $40 per person. I would definately recommend this club.

It was a Friday night when I went to Le Jardin. It was interesting to see the show the entrance staff puts on to make it seem like there was a line that couldn't wait to get in the club. Promoters running around, girls at the door acting like they couldn't let anymore people in. "No, that's it. just one more but that's it for now.." then the minute they let you in, you find the place half empty. Like stepping into another world once you manage to make it past the entrance drama. They were spinning hip hop music, which didn't pick up the pace so we left and went to Create.. where the Dj was spinning house music.. and it was a great finish to a slower-starting night.

This is the place for the adventurous and the hard core. Check out the event calender for different shows and DJs. Prices varies. Many people like Thursday RESPECT. You get to see many shocking things and people expressing themselves with costumes, strange and skimpy outfits, dancing, singing and even female wrestling. Basically doing their THANG! So nasty and kitsch! An interesting experience for me. Drinks are a bit overpriced since quality is not that great. Ladies beware, only one bathroom. And the place is very small and can be really packed. The bouncer at the door really do screen people, they don't allow drunks or druggies but all types can get in. So ladies, beware and be street smart. I don't recommend anybody going solo.

The DJ (Mr. Fitz?) sucked big time - TRAIN WRECK. Couldn't mix if his life depended on it, which is weird for such a large venue and totally ruins the vibe. We thought the dance floor was too small and the club seems to be made only for groups around table service and was too crowded to dance. The layout was lame.
