The square features all kinds of shops, restaurants, bars, a local farmers' market, play area, view of the Bay...nice to walk around and nice to pay homage to a great author whose stories nourished my childhood.
The farmers market was excellent and the beautiful views and boats on display created a great atmosphere.

There's also some tremendous views of downtown San Francisco including the Golden Gate Bridge and Oakland from the end of the runway.
The third surprise was the unparalled panoramic view of San Francisco Bay from the flight deck and the fantail.

There is a lot of wild life on the Bay as well as great views of San Francisco, Alcatraz, Angel Island, and the bridges.
But to view all of the bay area in all of it's glory is to go for a cruise on the 165 foot USS Potomac FDR's yacht which was used from 1936 until his death in 1945.
