What travellers are saying
- Outdoor TravelerBangor, ME56 contributionsIt was our first time visiting Durango and we hope to come back again soon. The downtown has many nice historic buildings, shops, restaurants, and bars. It also has beautiful mountain scenery as a backdrop. We explored the downtown plus used Durango as our base for two days at Mesa Verde. Next time we hope to ride on the narrow gauge railroad, explore the mountains around Durango, and see more area historic sites. The other great thing about our visit was that there was a bluegrass festival in town while we were there. Lots of lively music to enjoy.Written January 24, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- okeydokey-paPennsylvania118 contributionsOur group went off-roading with our 4Runner and hiking here two days. Spectacular views! Wish we would have had more time to explore this area. The sunrise the one day was gorgeous, and the stop off area where there was benches and hiking loop was good for everyone, from 2 year old to 66 year old to walk around on.Written August 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Donna SRome, GA111 contributionsNice section of the trail. We hiked with our dog then enjoyed dinner at the outside patio at the Doubletree Hotel. There were many people walking and we felt safe.Written May 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Chuck SIdaho941 contributionsAbout 2 inches fresh snow-fun. Lovely vistas from the slopes. This is a mid-size resort with about 2000 vertical. Prices are reasonable, and the crowd on a later-season weekday was very modest-no lift lines. Runs vary from quite easy, with many intermediate runs to quite difficult (quite a few mogul runs, a bit beyond me). The layout was a bit odd, with several long lifts splayed along the mountain, but fairly long (and in some cases slow, with lots of poling/skating) between them. Lifts are modern, fast, easy to board. Restrooms and eating facilities readily available.
The website said that many runs had been groomed, which was not really true. They may have been groomed in the last several days, but overall the grooming was minimal, which makes it harder for an intermediate/advanced intermediate like me.

Pretty cool that it's there by itself on the side of the road. Only need a few minutes to stop and take a few pics. Be sure to also stop at Bakers Bridge about 5 min away. It's off the main road but worth the short detour.Written October 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Megan CBroken Arrow, OK34 contributionsWe loved this hike! Our 3 kids between 6-9 did great. It was beautiful. I would definitely recommend a high clearance vehicle like an SUV, truck, jeep. We drove our van and had to stop about a half mile before the trailhead bc we felt certain we were going to drag the bottom and break something in a few specific areas. It’s mostly uphill on the way there and mostly downhill on the way out. Our kids waded in the water and had a good time.Written August 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- LizBOhio643 contributionsOne of the best community recreation centers I’ve seen anywhere. Well laid out facility with space for many guests. Lap pool has very wide lanes which very easily two or more swimmers . Recreation pool also very large space enough for children, as well as adults to do their thing. Nice size indoor track upstairs. Lots of workout equipment in different types of spaces. Very friendly and helpful staff. We rented towels as well as locks for lockers. A real bargain for a very reasonable entry fee. Nice to be able to keep up our workouts, even though on vacationWritten May 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - clark8131Durango, CO20 contributionsHad a visitor in town and took him to the Museum. Was greeted by a very knowledgeable and friendly volunteer who gave me a run down of what the Museum had to offer. Very good video on the fish raised there and Fish Hatchery operations. A second video also plays on facts about the wildlife we have in Colorado. The museum houses numerous animal mounts that live in Colorado. Pelts are also available to handle if one so desires to get a feel for the critter! A small room is also an option for kids to draw animals and enjoy sitting down! There is also a quiz to test ones knowledge on what is in the museum. All of this free though donations are appreciated. Parking is not an issue as well and is free. A walk through the hatchery raceways next to museum to see the fish being raised is a must thing to do as well. There is something for all ages to enjoy.Written September 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Anon8815Trenton, NJ784 contributionsGood rainy day activity. Plenty of parking. Free to enter but donations accepted. Staff obviously is passionate bout what they do. Found some of the exhibits a bit difficult to know what order I should read things in but overall enjoyable. My favorite was learning about the fire fighting history.Written June 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
