Aaron has a strong background in archeology and did a masterful job of blending what archeology has to tell us of Mesa Verde with what the Pueblo nations have to say about their history.. It was all fascinating and well beyond what we later heard in a guided tour by a park ranger. Our raft guide was excellent, and we were able to really enjoy the experience despite some first time nerves because we felt like we were in such good hands. The communication prior to the excursion was also excellent. - Christy T5 contributionsThis was an informational guide that told us of places we might have missed. I wish that it gave more notice about where to stop for each place. Some of them were dirt roads with inclines and we could not take our motorhome up the hills. Some we passed because we were going to quickly and turning that big rig around is hard. I think some of the narration was done during a different season as it speaks of a few waterfalls that were not visible, but probably are after the snow starts to melt. Our guide Aaron was so knowledgeable and passionate about Mesa Verde and the history, archeology, and connections of the Ancestral Puebloans. We saw the best sites on all day tour and included Ranger led tours of Cliff Palace and Balcony House. If you don’t book these Ranger tours way in advance it is very difficult to get tickets individually as they sell out quickly. This tour is a great way to get those tickets. - Dana D1 contributionThe tour itself was fabulous. What made it even better was our tour guide, Tosh Black! Not only did he give us the history, he really connected with us as his audience and pointed out things that he knew we would be interested in. Tosh was very accommodating with any of our request. As far as the scenery, one of my husband‘s bucket list items was to climb a mountain, which he will probably never do. But this excursion made him feel like he did, and it was so exhilarating for him, as well as it was for me and our son. After a 3000 ft. climb you are treated to a scenic view of the surrounding mountains.
