What travellers are saying
- Kyle C14 contributionsThis place is such a neat experience. I will say up front it was closed when we got there so we could not tour the inside but reading about it definitely made us wish we could have. Aside from the unique and mysterious vibe the castle gives, the grounds around the castle are amazing! There’s a beautiful pond and trails through the forest. There’s Also a breathtaking view of the river. We had a lot of fun here and would definitely come back.Written October 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Victoria TEssex, CT533 contributionsI love taking my clients to the Farm. They love to feed the animals, or just look at the horses grazing in the fields. I buy feed at only $2 a tub and feed the alpacas and sheep. Plus its free!Written October 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - atlantagorTrumbull, CT2,369 contributionsHistoric bridge - not too many left with this design, check the closing schedule for the 63 hour mandatory closure to auto traffic - not 100% sure why but it is posted I was old it takes another 15-20 minutes to get to the other side when the bridge is closed , also they were paving seems like bridge is maintained nicely, good view from gelston parking lot as wellWritten May 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - poppy843Milford, CT139 contributionsA quaint little schoolhouse all alone on the banks of the CT River. Well preserved and taken care of. There are also three graves there of old time patriotsWritten July 31, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ladybug94 contributionsWhat a wonderful place! We saw Maggie. The story was new to me and believable about a country’s loss of young people to immigration and its impact on the families left behind. The singing was amazing! It was a nice evening just to be inside the theatre.Written September 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - R GiansantiStaffordshire, UK26,131 contributionsSt. Stephen’s church is a lovely little church. Unfortunately I stopped off on midday on a Saturday and it wasn’t open. I would have loved to have a look inside. The outside is nice and quiet. There is a bench in the corner right under the bell to have a seat and enjoy the peacefulness. According to the side they have many activities and services are on Sunday.Written November 18, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EMoonDanceGreenwich, CT69 contributionsWhile traveling the countryside by motorcycle we saw the sign for the Nathan Hale School House and decided to stop in. The school house is located on a hilltop behind an old stone church. The two curators were very knowledgeable and were more than happy to answer any questions we might have. The exhibits were interesting and very well done. It would probably take about a half hour to read and absorb the history provided in this little schoolhouse. We had a lengthy and enjoyable conversation with both the curators. During our conversation the female curator mentioned that she was actually a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She said she loved history – in particular sharing that knowledge with others. We were the fortunate recipients of that knowledge! We spent about an hour conversing with these two very interesting individuals – it was time well spent.Written July 30, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Velma SueWethersfield, CT255 contributionsWhat can you say about a memorial to a dead local hero. It was big, granite and Major Spencer must have evoked love from the downs folks or the time otherwise why would they have built this thing?Written July 21, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Victoria TEssex, CT533 contributionsI attended a wedding, and although it is quite austere on the interior, the exterior is very interesting. Only quite small but still worth a visit before restorationWritten February 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
