Toured the South Arm of the Humber from Corner Brook to Frenchman's Cove to Lark Harbour then around to Bottle Cove. This tour circled much of the Blow-Me-Downs. Got the name when Capt. Cook stood atop one of these mountains in the high winds and uttered words like it tried to "blow me down" which gave them the name. They aren't the Rockies or the Alps but scenic just the same!

We really enjoyed visiting this beautiful park. The park ranger was very helpful - he showed us where to park for free and suggested a trail for us to hike down to the beach. The beach was beautiful and featured some gorgeous scenery.

This is an amazing waterfall that you can view right beside its base. When we were there, the volume of water coming over was insane! It was a short and relatively easy hike to the waterfall. The gravel road up the parking lot was sketchy with washouts and potholes, but it was worth it!!!! You need to watch very carefully for the sign from the main road, it is somewhat hidden...

With a name like Cape Blow Me Down, you want to hike only in good weather, and we were so lucky to have a stunning, clear day on our visit. The forested lower slopes were beautiful, but the views from higher up were astounding. And it was wonderful to see more of the Pitcher Plant, Newfoundland's provincial flower. We walked 7.5 km's return distance, gained 607 m's of elevation, and took 3 hours, 30 minutes to complete.

Oddly, there are no toilets at the trailhead, not even a rudimentary one, so that can be a drawback. Otherwise, the trail is well designed and maintained. They have built several viewpoints in the forested area, and even though they are a very short distance from the main trail, they are VERY lovely to enjoy. There are a couple of sections that are a bit steeper, and where the trail has some loose grave/rocks, but these sections are very short, just take your time. There are a couple of helpful ropes in place for those who need a bit of extra help, or if there's been some rain or snow to make things slipperier. HIGHLY recommended regardless!

We have stopped in a few times during our visit to Lark Harbour! Beautiful store with only locally made art.
    Very friendly employees/owners!
