- Cecilia D2 contributionsI visited the museum with my grandparents. I grew up in Farmington, and my grandparents are locals, and we are familiar with the story of Lilian Nordica. We each learned a lot from our visit! The tour was fantastic, led by a very friendly and energetic guide who was eager to share with us all he knew about this impressive woman. The museum is filled with pictures and publications, which our guide explained in more detail. The displays of stage costumes and jewelry are dazzling, and really honor the woman who wore them. I left inspired and with a hankering to listen to some opera!Written July 25, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - amandaC207603Maine279 contributionsWent on a Saturday afternoon on our way through town. Had a red and a cream ale. There was live music and a food truck. Music was good (one guy with guitars). Didn’t try the food truck (Mexican) since we had just eaten. Picnic tables with fire boxes set up. A few people brought their own chairs.Written October 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ecurb Hi1 contributionAbout 3 miles in on Mosher Hill Rd. Shortly after the pavement ends, (it was just re-paved) the culvert is plastic (directions I read said metal) tiny pull off, but obvious at the bottom of a dip in the road. The trail goes down the right side, after the fall's, when you can pass to the other side, walk back up for a great view at the bottom of the fall.Written August 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - geminigirlFarmington, ME454 contributionsWe saw Sandy River Players' production of Something's Afoot, a wonderful comedic musical which plays heavily upon Agatha Christie. Â
There was an extraordinary amount of talent on stage. Rylee Doiron as Hope was wonderful; her facial expressions were on par to Lucille Ball and she has a stellar voice. Savanah Leavitt was perfect as Flint. I really appreciated that she brought a cockney accent to the role. Tim Berry was absolutely fabulous as Nigel. He utterly embraced this role and I regret I didn't see him play the Prince/Wolf in Into the Woods. He really was exceptional. Melody Bickford as Lady Grace knocked it out of the park with "The man with the ginger mustache."
It is unfortunate then that the music tended to drown out the singing and we struggled hearing what they were saying. It was unnecessary to have such a large pit orchestra in such a small space. The night we were there, they also struggled with one of the mics making excessive noise that took away from the suspension of disbelief.
But the real disappointment came from the seats. Hard wooden seats that you would expect at a convention, not in a 3 hour theater performance.  I've been in church pews that were more comfortable. Everyone around us complained and quite a few left at intermission because they couldn't sit any longer. Sadly, it detracted from our enjoyment.ÂWritten May 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
