The chateau is fantastic but the coffee shop is a total rip off. I was charged 12.60 euros for 2 cups of tea. Not even in Paris ot Venice would one pay so much in a coffee shop.

During a visit to the Dordogne area in mid-October of 2018, and being a huge craft beer enthusiast I looked forward to stopping by Brasserie du Chanoine,Hautefort, France.

They are French craft brewers producing what appeared like a variety of eight to ten locally produced beers.

This is a take out only establishment. No open beverages sold or consumed on premises.

A custom picked 6-pack sampler was purchased. Five different beers including Ide Noire, La Dame Blanche, Maya La Belle, Marcose & Hiver ‘n’ Ale. Craft beer tasting is a very personal thing so I won‘t get into that here.

    They are open Thursday, Friday & Saturday 1000-1230 & 1430-1900 and Sunday 1000-1230 & 1430-1730.

The staff member spoke English and was very informative explaining the different types of beers available. The was service quick and friendly. I thought the prices about right for micro brewed craft beers.

If you’re in the Hautefort, France area, why not take a walk about around this historic picturesque hillside town and reward yourself by trying some locally brewed French craft beer, visit Brasserie du Chanoine.
