The Discovery Children's Museum was one of our planned visits during our family vacation to Las Vegas. We discovered this venue from the show, Blippi, and wanted to check it out ourselves.
It is definitely a unique place for children, offering a variety of activities within for kids. The museum is about 5-stories/levels high that is essential built around a centerpiece play-gym is accessible at each level. Each of these floors offer different themed interactive experiences that are relatively common and comparable to what you would find in other children's museums (environmental stewardship, water conservation, medical technologies, mechanical skills, market place, arts and crafts, classes, electrical sciences, earth sciences, fantasy land, etc.) Unique to the Discovery Children's Museum was a Las Vegas Raiders' Football dedicated area.
During our visit, the museum had Nevada State Park Rangers as special guests that provided a neat interactive learning experience.
It's quite affordable; admission was definitely on the lower end of the pricing spectrum compared to a lot of other children's museum venues that we have been to across the nation. They offer a military discount for those applicable, as well as a membership if you're able to come here on a regular basis as a local.
If you're visiting from out of town and staying on the strip, you will need to acquire some sort of transportation to the Discovery Children's Museum; getting here by foot from the strip is just not convenient as it is located on the outskirts of the casino hub.
If you have the autonomy to drive here, navigating to the venue is fairly simple. Located near Downtown Las Vegas, you can take advantage of the fact that the Discovery Children's Museum is located right off a major highway where you will also be able to easily stop at the outlets and In-N-Out Burgers. There is a parking garage directly across from museum that charges around $4.00 for your use (I believe the fee may be waived for Nevada residents).
There is a museum store, however, I do not believe there was a food court of any sort here. The staff were extremely friendly and a pleasure to associate with. Definitely a great local spot for kids that makes Las Vegas family-friendly!
