The first being in 2022 where I met possibly the most imaginative and passionate "tasting" staff ever. In fact, it was on the back of her describing the "Margaret" cab sauv, likening it to a warm hug from a grandmother, that stuck in my mind and I decided to drop in to taste and buy a bottle this time round. Well, Claire, the wonderful French staff, she remembered my husband and me, and we had yet another great and informative session and walked away with two premium bottles for our collection. Light cheese platters can be arranged at additional cost for the tastings, which are free (rare these days in Margs) but you can be sure that you'd want to take a bottle back with you. Woodlands remains one of my select top producers in Margs, in fact, among my top 2. - Voyager8013521 contributionMy partner and I visited the cellar door in Margaret river. On arrival we were greeted immediately and given lots of help in choosing what wine tasting to do. We had Evie take us through the premium wine tasting and she was amazing ! She has lots of knowledge about each of the wines and was more than happy to cater to our requests and was able to answer any questions we had about the wines or the vineyard itself. My intention was to taste a couple of new release wines but spent the best part of the afternoon tasting Fraser Gallop's excellent offerings. Paula, was very attentive to our needs and although my wife was designated driver, ensured that she was not forgotten. The new 2022 release cabernet merlot is going to be an exceptional wine. We then stayed and enjoyed a charcuterie board and a glass of wine. Lovely seating available both inside and outside with views of the vines. The wine is made in typical Margaret River dry style, it's a Margarey River dry white wine without the exhorbitant price tag. The Classic White wine is available throughout Australlia. From raised platforms to gravel to sand, it was certainly an adventure and not for the faint hearted. It was a great workout, plus the view were divine! We were also super lucky that the waterfalls were still falling at that time of the year and to catch a rainbow on our hike.
