Favorite part is Mr. John Dillon and his mission. I am still in awe after 15 or so years from my 1st visit. The area is well maintained and cared for. A true gem in every sense. I strongly suggest visiting. It's worth any drive.

A secluded private island for free! Only takes a bit of carrying your gear and paddle craft! We did end our trip early due to heavy rain storms. But the lake is BEAUTIFUL! The campsites well picked and spaced apart. Some previous campers left some bathroom trash in the woods by campsite 6 but the site was gorgeous otherwise! We will be returning! But when forecast is clear! Be sure to have your rowing arms on for site 6, as its pretty far from the main launch!

When you're down in NYC ever wonder where the Hudson River starts? This is the place. It's a hike that is well worth the effort. Map and compass are essentials along with drinking water, a working flashlight ( extra batteries) a small knife and snacks. Do not count on using a cell phone GPS as cell phone service is spotty here. A conventional " dedicated" GPS should work. A great hike in great weather. Kind of a drudge in the rain. Be sure to straddle the Hudson at its source...it'll be the only time you can claim to have stood on both sides of the river at the same time.

went for a walk on the mountain biking trails, There were beautiful views, and one of the people who was blowing leaves off the trail offered us great suggestions about other places to hike in the Adirondacks.

I'm not even sure they have a sign out front, the only way to know it's a marina is by the few boats parked around it. The staff is a little rough around the edges but once you start talking to them you can tell they know what they're doing in there good business men. The prices are which you would expect up here but their work is good and they are honest.

My husband surprised me with a flight, on July 20. Tom was our pilot, and as we arrived, he had a sign up saying no flights until 4 pm, due to wind issues. It was 3:45, so we asked if we could go up. Yes!! We flew over Long Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, and could see so many lakes, which he named, as well as the surrounding and afar mountains! We saw recent tornado damage, a hanging bog of peat in another area and Tom gave us so much info as far as where to look and what we were seeing, in detail. He clearly loves what he is doing and it shows. It was such a great experience! Reasonably priced at $80 pp, as well. I cannot recommend him and this business enough. We flew with them about 10 years ago and loved it then, too. What a wonderful way to see just how much is around you when you are in Long Lake, and the Adirondacks! We will return. Thanks, Tom! Brian and Michelle.

The studio is across the street from Hoss's along with several other small houses with businesses. This places sells alcohol inks, makings for jewelry, fabric dyeing. Classes are offered and you can get a lesson on the spot. There are also completed projects for sale including some ver beautiful ice dyed clothing. Lovely owner as well. Worth a visit.
