A nice state park along the river and falls. There is plenty to see and paved trials to follow along the river for several miles. It also includes Goat and the Three Sister islands. There are plenty of benches to rest if walking. If driving there a re multiple parking lots. This park is billed as the first state park in the nation. There is plenty to see and do. Allot of the attractions in the park are reviewed separately. Seeing the falls lit up at night is a must see. I would say you need multiple days to take it all in,

This is part of the NY Niagra State park. The trail is easily walkable with beautiful scenery. Definitely take the bridges to the 3 Sister islands for up close look of Niagra river. We parked in Lot 2 $10 we were able to walk over the bridge to the main park as the trails are a big loop!

There are lovely walking routes in Whirlpool State Park that offer a variety of breathtaking river views. Without a doubt, I would strongly advise doing the same when visiting Niagara Falls.

Do your research before hiking. We... Did not. The views are breathtaking (as are the stairways). The trail is rugged to travel and can be very narrow (and dangerous) in many places. Experienced hikers should do fine. Overweight older gentlemen like myself should think twice.

We were expecting a Watkins Glen style hike where you could hike down and walk a slopping roadway back to the top. No such luck. You go down 400+ stairs and you will have to come back up the same-ish amount.

To be fair. We entered at the stairs to the right of the pullover parking area and walked only until we found the next set of stairs. The trail goes farther and could get easier... But at that point, we weren't talking any chances.

    NOT FOR BEGINNERS.

Hike, Walk, Run around Niagara Reservoir.
If you park at the Power Authority parking lot, and take paved trail up onto reservoir embankment, you can walk around most of the way. If you go counter clockwise, following the mile markers, around 6 miles you will come to a "no trespassing" gate. Go through it, and at 6.5 miles, just before the dam, on the right you will see a radio tower and a little dirt path that goes out by a cematary on Witmer Road, go out that way (steep climb down the embankment to path), turning L on Witmer and cross in front of the dam on Witmer road back to the parking lot for a total of 7.3 miles. Or do it in reverse, going in front of dam on Witmer, turn right on dirt road by cemetary . . .
