A friend recommended this winery when he heard we were visiting Ithaca. Luckily, it was only @15 minutes from the area we were planning on hiking. After hiking, we stopped at the Finger Lakes Cider House for lunch (it was the one of the only places to grab lunch in the area) and then headed to Sheldrake. The grounds were very nice and they overlooked the lake. Too bad it wasn’t a nice, sunny day! We could’ve sat outside and enjoyed the view. Instead we sat inside and each of us enjoyed a flight. Each flight was $12. Sweet wines are my favorite, so it was great to have a sweeter flight as an option. My husband enjoyed his flight, but wasn’t raving about it. In the end, we walked away buying three bottles of one of the wines (the 2020 Riesling Bubbles). The dessert wine was very good, but we weren’t willing to spend $60 for the bottle, and honestly, I don’t think I could drink more than a few sips. Next time we would check out another vineyard, but we were glad we visited this vineyard.

This was the first of several wineries that visited during our recently concluded Finger Lake vacation. A sampling of 5 wines will set you back a modest $5 and, should you choose to purchase a bottle, $2 will be deducted from its cost. Each of the white wines we tasted was deemed quite good and reasonably priced. Fear not, we did not depart empty handed having acquired 2 bottles and a T-shirt for my wife.

This is a place not to miss. The people were extremely friendly, the liquor we tasted was delicious, and the prices were not outrageous. My only regret was that we were flying home and could not take it with us!

First stop on a quick wine trail. Good snack board with a flight of wines. Excellent view of the lake and vineyard. Mostly dry wines though.

This was the first stop for our group of 4 on the Holiday Shopping Spree Saturday.
This is a super cute and quaint barn. Unfortunately, it was very cold and windy that day-and the temperature in the barn was actually colder than the temperature outside.
The food pairing was delicious- Cranberry Zucchini Cake. The woman doing the tasting was very sweet. The decorations looked festive.
Unfortunately, due to how cold we were at 10 AM, we were not able to stay very long.
We will return in a bit warmer weather!

Brewery and distillery are located in an old firehouse directly in front of the new firehouse!
Very friendly staff. Lots of options like tasters, pints, half pints of their beer and other local beers. They also offer wines from local wineries, and tastings of their distilled spirits! Inside is half a firetruck!

We loved picking Juneberries!! It was very easy to fill our buckets. We ate a lot of them plain and already made Juneberry buckle! The owner explained that they’re also incredibly nutritious. It’s easy to find the farm. Finding the actual berries was an extra step but not hard. Just park near the archway and wander around a little until you find the owner! Very friendly and helpful. 10/10 will go back.

Excellent place to go to for a tasting of local Ciders.

Follow your GPS down a country road to a small place with outdoor picnic table seating.

Definitely NOT the run of the mill, mass produced cider that you will find in the supermarkets. Order a tasting flight of very original, handcrafted ciders that are sure to catch your interest.

Of course, had to take a bottle of my favorite cider to go as well.

New York State is the cider Capital of the World!

We had just played golf in Watkins Glen at a very neglected golf course so, we wondered what sort of shape a "state park" golf course would be in. In Michigan, we do not have any state park golf courses. County, City, but no state park golf couses here. We were very pleasantly surprised at the condition of Bonavista State Park Golf Course. Every aspect of maintenance was as good as it can be in such a dry summer. The greens were very green and cut short and fast, the fairway grass was tight and thick. Green fees very reasonable too.

The water to wine tour was amazing! Captain Joe was so kind and accommodating. The boat ride was such a fun, unique way to travel around to the wineries and the whole day was very well coordinated!

Charming winery and tasting in a restored barn, with a lot of history. The tasting was lovely as were our hostesses, lots of information about the wine and conversation as we were the only ones there at that time. We bought a few bottles as well as the tomato dip they served. Compared to some of the other tasting we had been to that weekend the pours were a little light and cheese/crackers not much more than a bite - but I guess that is the point to get you to buy more. If we go back to the Finger Lakes we would go again.
