The rock formations were intriguing. We didn't go down by the ocean, and it was still worth seeing. Some people walked along the ocean. I imagine that you would get different experiences at high and low tide.

It's a very short walk from where you can park to the point, where you can see the formations.

As the whole British Colombia, very beautiful place, we enjoyed in particular the rocks dug by the waves, under which we could sit down, sheltered from the rain.

One of the most beautiful spots on the island, stunning views all around. The access is over an uneven narrow gravel road with wasboard surface areas. Parking and access is adequate. This is a good place for a swim as well.

We’re fans of Pirates Cove but the entrance requires attention: line up the “arrow” and “cross” on entrance, then turn sharply left when green and red markers open up. At low tide, we’ve hit 5.0 feet. Watch your position closely. There are numerous stern-ties inside — 11 on NW and and additional 5 on SW shore. Most boats are in the private harbor, bristling with “private “ signs. About two dozen boats are max busy summer. We love the place, overnight 6x or something in past five years.

A magical west coastal bay meets rainforest area, a few nice short walks by the waters' edge to explore and enjoy the crystal clear water marine life. Some incline hiking required. There is ample parking.

what a great spot this is. A lovely strand of dark sand beach facing east. Ample shade or sun if you want by noon. Outhouses at the bottom. The only potential downside is the 10 minute walk in which has a steep bit coming back from the beach...good workout and young (or old) fit people will not even notice it. Lots of logs along Lock Bay so you can find a quiet spot if you wish. There is a nice little steep trail to a quiet beach with pools which is not far from the parking lot which is closed due to "facility failure", parkspeak for "something gave way and we aren't going to fix it." Shameful that a simple soil slump or broken step cannot be fixed. There is NO excuse for our parks not to be at 100% during the busy summer season.

Very cute little museum. Had a very unique exhibit on the hippie history of gabriola. I did feel that the cultural history of the local indigenous people did not have enough attention. It would’ve been interesting to have more information about the current experience for local indigenous peoples on the island.

1.4 km walk over a trail and boardwalk bridges through a mature rain forrest. This September was unusually dry, the fauna was obviously under drought stress. Evidence of remote forrest fires was present on some of the very large cedar trees. West several dry flood stream beds. A short walk, well worth doing for nature lovers

There were no maps of Gabriola Island on the ferry that we used to get to Gabriola Island, so we had to stop at the Visitor Information centre to get a map, as we were biking around the island. The office opened a little bit late, but once we were able to get a map, the employee was really helpful in letting us know what points she thought would be of interest to see on our bikes, that were not too hilly, as Gabriola was our fourth island, and they are all really hilly to bike. We were looking for something flatter, so Orlebar Point was our out and back route.

I discovered Nick Halpin's art years ago. I have 4 of his large prints which capture so much personality and spirituality in his portraits and mountainscapes. I have sent many of his cards as special thoughts to dear friends. All commented on the depth of feeling and photo-artistry in these little gifts.
It is a pleasure to visit his home workshop/studio/ gallery in a lovely secluded spot amongst the tall evergreens of Gabriola.
Tourists to Gabriola should seek him out for very pleasant gazing!

Not sure if tourists are able to get to this island to explore the lighthouse. We saw the lighthouse when we visited Orlebar Point on Gabriola. Took some pictures, explored the coast line.

We have been fortunate enough to see several musical performances at this venue over the last few months. They have had quite a selection of talented artists in a wonderfully intimate little setting. Great acoustics, and a small stage that really highlights each performance.
It's definitely worth a visit for the music.
