- CdnMinkManitoba, Canada143 contributionsWe heard abt this at a nearby hwy rest stop so gave it a go. The drive in was easy and a beautiful forest drive. The parking area is a lovely wooded spot with picnic tables and a clean outhouse. The walk up to the viewpoint and beyond to get a better look got the blood moving and was an attractive forest walk. The falls above and the rapids rushing past were a treat, but only one was flowing due to time of year and drier than normal conditions. I could see how during spring runoff or wetter weather it could be that much more awe inspiring. Well worth the short detour off the hwy.Written October 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CLandrockNorth Vancouver, Canada55 contributionsWe come up from North Van every spring break and its always great skiing no matter what. Even this season which was bad pretty much everywhere in BC, Smithers still had the goods! If you like no lift lines, well priced lift passes, and some of the best views anywhere, you won't go wrong here. Best mountain in the North!Written May 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JACKIE747Surrey, Canada39 contributionsThis is a great hike and the rewards are great for having to walk only 7 km round trip. The hike starts 20 km outside of town at this ski hill. The first part bit is a little steep then levels off into beautiful meadows. which were in flower when we were there. Going onward you top the crest and a short rocky trail takes you down to the lake. It's an excellent family hike.Written August 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- cesmith71Prince George, British Columbia12 contributionsWe have been here a few times over the past 4 years. It was my partner's favourite campground. Nice campground with lots of sun, good services with showers & flush toilets, small beach but very sunny. We liked kayaking on the lake. Unfortunately 2018 there is a huge wasp population in the park but I believe this is just a one-off thing. Staff are friendly.Written August 1, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dixie SSurrey, Canada17 contributionsSpent a very enjoyable hour here. We sat at the bar and were blown away by the efficiency of Deb, the bar manager and only staff member while we were there. She runs the place like a well oiled machine, but still had time to chat with us. I hope her boss realizes what a gem she is!
Lots of different beers. The ones we tried were all good. Would go back for sure if we are in Smithers again.Written August 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Klaas KSmithers, Canada41 contributionsFor years already, this is the perfect quick getaway. After an easy 2-3 hour hike, mostly through the forest you arrive in the beautiful Silverking Basin. About 1 km in is the Joe L"Orsa cabin, an excellent place to stay a night or two. Several day hikes can be taken from the cabin to either the Highland Pass or Sliverking Lake, for example. We usually spot goats and the occasional bear on the slopes. But...let's keep it a secret!Written November 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Teresa HTexada Island, Canada6,341 contributionsA most impressive Museum and art gallery in a Heritage Building. Neat train car outside (radio station not open to public) and next to the Visitors Information Centre.
The displays are all being updated and are impressive. In the same building there is an art gallery that changes displays every 4-5 weeks. When we were there it was on the Fall Fair. There is a small gift shop in the Museum and one in the Art Gallery selling locally crafted items, reasonably priced, very unique.

Best but is the stunning view on the drive from Smithers. And we saw deer on the road. - Russ756Spokane, WA100 contributionsOn a rare day off form the construction work, we headed east form Terrace towards the town of Smithers. West of Smithers is located the Toboggan Creek Fish Hatchery. We decided to stop and see what was there. The local Hatchery Operator was on hand and gave us a personal tour of the small hatchery facility. It was very interesting learning of the different types of fish that were in the local waters.
In fact, while we were there, some colorful steelhead were spawning in the creek. The Operator explained the process of digging the nest, laying the eggs, and the fertilization process of the various species. One interesting fact is that while many different types of fish spawn in this particular creek, they all arrive at different times of the year. The Operator was very personable and took time to answer all our questions, even to the point of giving us fishing and cooking tips! The parking lot is small and is right next to the hatchery building and small ponds, walking was not more than a hundred meters to see everything, including the spawning fish. This made for a very interesting and informative side trip to Smithers.Written May 20, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Zhong XDelta, Canada28 contributionsThis is an ordinary lake. It is quite challenge to get there. There is not a real trail to follow although it is only 500m.Written August 25, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HarrisabroadSmithers, Canada43 contributionsThe 2021 Bulkley Valley Exhibition was Full Steam Ahead this year. With distancing and masking protocols in place the fair was a MOST welcome return to relative normalcy for residents and visitors in the Bulkley Valley and way beyond. With a full slate of events starting with the downtown parade though the rodeo and riding events, midway & carnival rides by Shooting Star Amusements to the full slate of agricultural and livestock competitions on display. The crowds were happy and respectful of each other with everyone getting a chance to enjoy the weekend at this signature event. The committee and volunteers did a spectacular job of putting it all together on a very tight timeline... to great success. So if you missed this year's be sure to mark you calendar for August of 2022.Written August 31, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
