The best part was the wine tasting. Local Strawberry (sweet), rhubarb (tart), and a blend (just right). Food and vegetable prices on the high side, but interesting and unique products are available.

We called in here on our way around the Gaspe peninsular. We thought it would be a good idea to see the animals of Canada, having failed to see moose on our 3 hour safari in the Matane reserve.

We really enjoyed it and got a really good look at everything except the Bald Eagle! The park was very clean and well organised and some cages were very large but having seen the Harper Seal in the St Lawrence River we thought their pool was much too small.

It was great to see beaver, moose, black bear, wolves, lynx, cougars, well all the animals! We had a great afternoon.

This small but well managed museum if focused on the history of the first French settlers (from 1604) named the Acadians. The period covers the settlement of what is now called Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, the Great upheaval (mass deportation in 1755), how some escaped and survived, and interestingly, where did the survivors re-settle in the 18th, 19th and even 20th centuries. In a second small building, there is an exhibition of mock-ups of the historical buildings of Bonaventure. I learned a lot about the Acadians' culture and history. Also, there are a couple of small shops which around the museum which are worth having a look at.

Driving from Gaspé around the south shore of the Gaspésie, and ready for a stretch-our-legs break, we stopped in Bonaventure to admire the little harbor and lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is small, cute, thoroughly photogenic. Beyond it a long breakwater with a boardwalk offers a relaxing walk and broader view of the coast and town. On the shore side a small harbor/marina with pretty sailboats and commercial fishing boats, some of which appear to take customers out on the bay, and a restaurant that looks inviting. And there’s a RV campground that looks perfectly idyllic, positioned as it is right on the shore with good facilities and plenty of open space.

Stopped in on our way north to Gaspe. We had no tee-time, but took a chance, and fortunately, there was a slot. We grabbed our golf bags and played 9 holes (the front). We had an absolutely marvelous golf outing. This course is long, but has some interesting and challenging holes. It is expertly manicured, and everything is in great shape. We would become members here if we lived nearby. A fantastic golf course!
