We were at Chatsworth Country Fair where we were able to talk with Troy from the BDAA who organised for our son who has ADHD and Autism to fly fish on their boat at Ladybower Reservoir.

We wanted to let everyone know what an amazing charity the British Disabled Angling Association is. The opportunity the charity gave our son was brilliant.
Troy was a great tutor, talking through how to set up the rod and how to fly fish.
Our son was able to drive the boat under supervision in beautiful surroundings. Then when our son caught a fish this made his day!
Developing confidence and a sense of achievement.
Troy told us about how fishing equipment is adapted to enable anglers with a range of disabilities to fish.

If you are just interested in Fly fishing, go to Ladybower Fisheries where you can hire fishing equipment and fish from the shore or if you wish hire a boat.

10/10 Service. I came in with a punctured bike and the very kind staff member there (I wish I had asked for his name) wasted no time. I was up and running very quickly.
Good array of emergency cycle accessories available.
(Previously visited for a cycle hire for a friend, he was very satisfied with the cycles on hire.)

During ‘Lockdown’, time on our hands in between walking…..my husband and I researched my Family Tree via ‘My Heritage.com’

It was a fascinating journey and to discover my Paternal Great Great Grandfather was Toll Collector here circa 1861, was a wonderful discovery!

We live in Sheffield and are Sheffield Ramblers so have walked in the area on many occasions and have stood at the Mytham Bridge (Bamford) bus stop several times. After reading the information board had no idea one of my ancestors had been Toll Collector there, until we researched my Family History.

What a wonderful feeling discovering this as well as the name of his wife and their 5 children.

When we go to Manchester we always travel this scenic route via Bamford and my husband Peter always says “Doff your cap” as we pass by Mytham Bridge Toll Gates.

I was surprised under the rules to find the church open. It was a small church but has lots of history. It has the relocated bodies from Derwent Church when the valley was flooded to create the reservoir and dam.

Great Day out with Friends, Instructor Rachael was very professional, made us feel extremely safe, gave brilliant tips helping us improve our technique while being a great laugh at the same time. Safe to say the entire day was value for money and we shall do it all again.

Great day full of adventures and experiences with the team! Would definitely recommend the Capture the Flag Event. Allows all of the team no matter their ability to get involved and take on their own personal challenges.
