Stopped just as a rainstorm was ending and caught beautiful sights of the lighthouse. Such a wonderful view. The visitor center was wonderful and full of insights around the lighthouse and the area including a couple of different movies. Many activities for the kiddos and a small gift shop as well.
Was also able to walk down to the shoreline and observe as the tide went out. Very neat experience and well worth the trip down the stairs.

Needs to be on your list of things to do in Newport. Worst news first: in the summer months, it is super hectic and crowded. You may not be able to find a place to park anywhere close to the action. Don't be discouraged. The walk is flat no matter how far away you have to park.

When you walk back to the shops and restaurants, walk on the Bayside of the street. You can enjoy looking at the fishing boats, hundreds of them, sea lions and fish processing factories. Also, be sure to watch to sea lions along the bayfront. Mesmerizing for sure. Lots of fun to see.

If you are hungry, be sure to get on a wait list for any of the best restaurants, Mo's, Local Ocean, etc. The summertime wait can be excruciatingly slow.

We loved visiting the Hatfield Visitor Center! They have so many wonderful exhibits, for both adults and children. They have great touch pools. Octopus feedings, many hands on exhibits, again for for children and adults. We all (two adults and a 9 & 10 year old) enjoyed it a lot.

We travelled with car and made stop in Newport. The bridge over Yaquina bay is elegant with several arches was opened in 1936. It is worth to make a stop at the car park in front of Yaquina light house and have good look at it.

My partner and I walked out on the Fishing Pier for photos for the bridge and boats. It is a great vantage point. There were quite a few people fishing on a Sunday afternoon in August, as you would expect. There were a few good catches and someone actually pulled in a crab trap with a few in it. It was a nice walk on a nice afternoon in the summer.

Such a beautiful place for a memorial for those who have been lost at sea! The benches are beautiful! The personal pictures of people who have lost their lives doing what they love the most! The big memorial has most names engraved on it. It is in the middle of beautiful walking paths here at the Yaquina Bay. It also offers a beautiful view of the ocean! It gives on the reminder to never turn your back on the ocean at any time!

Very friendly parish. We were welcomed at the door with a smile from a parishioner. Holy water font is a giant clam shell! Choir was very nice. Church had candles to light. Homilies by parish priest were sincere. Mass always started on time and note that doors are locked during Mass.

The church is white. It has a tower and lots of windows.

They feed the homeless. I like that!

The people who come in this church are dedicated to help others.

    Worthwhile to see!

I liked that church. It has a triangular and people come in through the triangular entrance.

The bricks are made of red bricks.

The day we were there they had a sermon called: Grumbling Vs. Grace. It was really interesting!

Inside the church is also triangular. The cross in the church is huge. People sit on wooden benches.

It is simple, but very friendly people.

The City Hall Newport is quite big and attractive. The Newport is white and the roof is grey.

The three flags were up: united States, Oregon and the municipal flag.

    Worthwhile to see!

I liked that church as well. It has a large playground, a large cgurch and lots of parking.

    The roof is grey.

The day we were there the sermon was: Who are you Lord?

They have a nice organ. Wow!

It seems that everyone cares here.

    Worthwhile to see!

We drove the Yaquina Bay Road and found interesting information panel next to the road between Newport and Toledo . It was about first settle James Craigie who worked as a trapper for the Hudson’s Bay Company in the Oregon Territory and who claimed a land in 1866 and opened first settlement. This place is of historical interest about the early settlers and their interactions with the indigenous communities.
