- Kathy DSaint Louis, MO435 contributionsThe Oregon coast is beautiful, so it comes as no surprise that a stellar aquarium would be there. There are both indoor and outdoor exhibits, plus an acrylic tunnel that allows you to be surrounded by sharks, rays, eels, and other sea-creatures. we particularly enjoyed the Octopus Cave. Seals, sea lions, and otters were delightfully playful.Written March 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - traveling_with_kathyLake Stevens, WA1,609 contributionsI love lighthouses and this one did not disappoint. It was $7 to enter. There’s a nice interpretive center before going to the lighthouse. There are restrooms, a small souvenir shop, help desk and an informative exhibit about life at the lighthouse a hundred years ago. There are two short films on a constant loop - one explaining the history and life at the lighthouse and the other focuses on the tide pools and birds of the area. Recommend people stop in before visiting the lighthouse.
The lighthouse sits a mile out. There are stairs down to the tide pools. I had my dog with me, so I couldn’t get close to the lighthouse.Written September 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Oregon coast is beautiful and there is an abundance of beauty here. The parking area can get congested and parking can be difficult.Written September 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kathy DSaint Louis, MO435 contributionsThe coast of Oregon is beautiful, yet dangerous in many places. With all the rocky cliffs along here, I can see why a lighthouse was a necessary precaution. This lighthouse has a house attached for the keeper's family. Even if the lighthouse isn't open while you are there, you can peek inside the windows.Written March 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Darryl LMarana, AZ440 contributionsNeeds to be on your list of things to do in Newport. Worst news first: in the summer months, it is super hectic and crowded. You may not be able to find a place to park anywhere close to the action. Don't be discouraged. The walk is flat no matter how far away you have to park.
When you walk back to the shops and restaurants, walk on the Bayside of the street. You can enjoy looking at the fishing boats, hundreds of them, sea lions and fish processing factories. Also, be sure to watch to sea lions along the bayfront. Mesmerizing for sure. Lots of fun to see.
If you are hungry, be sure to get on a wait list for any of the best restaurants, Mo's, Local Ocean, etc. The summertime wait can be excruciatingly slow.Written August 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They have great touch pools. Octopus feedings, many hands on exhibits, again for for children and adults. We all (two adults and a 9 & 10 year old) enjoyed it a lot.Written September 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eva TUnited Kingdom5,877 contributionsWhen we visited Oregon we went to this place with my husband's cousin who is Oregonian, as she wanted to show us whales. Unfortunately this time we had no luck but from the Lookout at the gift shop (which was closed) we had great views. Car park is for about 30 cars.Written October 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kathy DSaint Louis, MO435 contributionsThe Yaquina Head Lighthouse dominates the cliffs near this beautiful state park. Surfers enjoy the waves, little kids enjoy hunting for clams, while rock-hounds admire the agates. It's a great place to take of your shoes, wiggle your toes in the sand, and go wading in the waves.Written March 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eva TUnited Kingdom5,877 contributionsWe travelled with car and made stop in Newport. The bridge over Yaquina bay is elegant with several arches was opened in 1936. It is worth to make a stop at the car park in front of Yaquina light house and have good look at it.Written August 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Have Camera, Will TravelSouth Bend, IN3,808 contributionsMy partner and I walked out on the Fishing Pier for photos for the bridge and boats. It is a great vantage point. There were quite a few people fishing on a Sunday afternoon in August, as you would expect. There were a few good catches and someone actually pulled in a crab trap with a few in it. It was a nice walk on a nice afternoon in the summer.Written June 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ashley JKalispell, MT33 contributionsNice little market on the korner! Lots of produce which is always nice. We bought some of the best hummus from one of the vendors. Wishing I’d have purchased more.Written September 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Cheyb29Salt Lake City, UT157 contributionsIt was super windy on a late August Monday evening, but not the least bit crowded. We were staying in an RV park across the street and found this gem. My daughter had a wonderful time playing in the sand and surf.Written August 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
