What travellers are saying
- Marty ..Ballina, Australia490 contributionsThe beautiful Lennox Head Beach , is a part of the long , sandy Seven Mile Beach
All a long this extended New South Wales coastal beach , is good for surfing
It’s a good walk following the beach
You get panoramic views of Lennox Head Beach / Seven Mile Beach from Lennox Point Headland , at Pat Morton LookoutWritten May 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You have to pay to park & it’s worth parking a bit further down than at the lighthouse as it was very busy and no where to turn, so worth walking for a few minutes to the lighthouse viewpoint. Take your binoculars as it’s likely you will see whales if it’s the right time of year.Written October 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marty ..Ballina, Australia490 contributionsTo often when I’ve visited Lake Ainsworth in Lennox Head .. this large freshwater lagoon is closed , due to Blue Green Algae
Even when Lake Ainsworth is open .. the colour of the water is affected by tea trees which grow on the waters edge , by dripping tea tree oils in the lagoon
By reasons of the tea tree oils .. some people believe Lake Ainsworth has therapeutic properties
Lennox Head township end of Lake Ainsworth .. there are barbecue & picnicking facilities
The nearby limited spaces carpark is usually very busy , as Seven Mile Beach is also in short walking distance to the lagoon & carparkWritten May 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This Lennox Head local park , also has picnic areas & public toilet
Through Ross Park , there’s access to Seven Mile Beach

Being locals, we've been here hundreds of times over past couple of decades. Always a good place to hang.
The Boat Channel is not only a formed waterway, giving boats access to local fishing grounds, but also makes a semi protected swimming pool at low tides. While not as safe as the patrolled beach at the surf club, this is as good or better when the surf club or paid lifeguards do not have patrols on duty (basically, weekdays out of school holidays and weekends in the cooler months).
The beach at the Boat Channel is quiet and uncrowded. Without kids it's a great place to lie down on a towel and read a book, and otherwise just unwind and be with nature. There are often dolphins out there, and we have sometimes seen stingrays flipping over the waves offshore. Of course, whales can also be seen in season, although easier to spot from higher ground, like from the lookout above the Point.
When the conditions are right, this can also be a nice place to surf. The reef helps to build wave height. We've had many enjoyable times with mates and kids surfing this break. Just watch out for low tide. Several fin repairs remind me to be careful paddling, or surfing back in at the end of a session.
A short walk takes you to many rock pools (at low tide) which are great for the kids to explore. And naturally, any beach is a sand castle in the making.
Take the time to enjoy this spot - drive down Rutherford Street and climb the small sand ridge to the beach. It's well hidden, but worth a visit.Written December 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Along Seven Mile Beach , there are plenty of open beach for surfing .. & public park land - which is good for picnicking & walks
Generally only a small section of the beach is patrolled by the volunteers of Lennox Head-Alstonville Surf Life Saving Club .. this area between the flags is the seaside of Lake Ainsworth
