A longish walk best to start early, starts from a trust car park £6 all day so not too bad, toilets in the car park. Walk along a driveway type road well signposted, then off to the right into the woods, steps all the way up through the woods which includes a waterfall. As you come out of the woods follow the clear path. The path splits up one going to the left the other to the right, follow the left path, which takes you up and around to the lake. From the lake you can clearly see the path leading up to the Cadair Idris. The path all the way around the top is fairly easy to follow in good visibility and in my view should only be done in these conditions. Also be aware of wind conditions, it can get very windy at the top if too strong can become dangerous. Only one bit that needs a bit of care around 3/4 of the way around you come across a rocky section, just keep to the middle and stay away from the edges. After that the path starts to descend downhill over a grassy plateau, look to the left you have great views including the sea, to the right is the Cadair Idris lake. Two choices on the grassy plateau keep high across it until you come to a fence & stile or drop down to the lower older path which is clearly marked and comes to the same fence lower down and another stile to climb over. If you go for the higher stile go over it turn right and follow the fence down. Soon becomes rock steps on a clear to follow path. Rock steps all the way down now which can take it out on your legs so trekking poles can help. You then come to where the path split on the way up. Go left back to the woods. Really lovely walk but don’t underestimate the physical nature of this walk the stone step descent can have its toll on your leg’s & knees. My advice is only do this trek on a good clear day, if strong winds or low cloud avoid, enjoy and stay safe

Free parking. We went early in the morning as staying nearby so car park was quiet but busier when we returned. Lovely views all along this walk. We are not hikers but this walk was fine and felt safe at all times. Met sheep along the way (you do have to avoid their droppings!). Took us a couple of hours to do.

We were going from Dolgellau to Barmouth and the Sat Nav took us this way. Had no prior knowledge of the bridge. But we were really glad we went this way. It was a real delight to drive over this bridge and not something you do everyday. Well worth the £1 it cost. Yes, you have to drive slowly and it's not a smooth ride but it's a real experience. Great views. I would say doing this is a must do if in the area.

Don't do this walk unless you have good route map or GPS guidance as we missed a few paths and finished up walking a lot further than we needed to and took us on some quite arduous sections. Well worth the effort to do the walk, although we only did one section and after 6+ miles we were treated to some amazing views, absolutely stunning to be honest, but we were glad to be making our way back down. We did the route up to the Lake, along the Levels and back down. Starting it in the village of Llanelltyd.

One of Wales' hidden gems and it is well hidden from the road. Just look for a black gate and follow the path up to the church. From the outside the church doesn't look like anything special but once you step inside, it's just wow
One of the best examples of the arts and crafts movement in a church. Well worth visiting.

The ruins of this old Abbey are not far from Dolgellau and approached via a caravan park which can be a little confusing. The setting though is lovely, nestled in the woods.. There is plenty of information with easy parking. Not much remains of the Abbey apart from some arches and walls but its enough to show you the scale of what it must have been like in its heyday.

The market was in the ship, the library and the street due to the BBC filming a new drama. We bought some lovely fresh bread and coffee and were a bit disappointed we'd shopped for meat and eggs the day before as the stuff for sale looked beautiful. Dog friendly which is a massive plus point.

Lovely example of 18th century church with a wonderful array of stained glass windows. The church is open to visitors Mon-Wed (0900 to 1500)

Brilliant solo walk up Aran Fawddwy. Went clockwise from the little cabin I was staying in past Blaencywarch Farm. The start is very steep and demanding, and it gets boggy after you turn right. I walked to Aran Benllyn afterwards which wasn’t too demanding and added a fair bit of distance and time.

I was walking in the forest this morning and passed by this tea room in a remote but fantastic location. It was a Monday so I doubted that it would have been open and as it wasn’t then I can only rate it on its location.
A little further on, I stopped to chat with a very charming local inhabitant who told me that the tea garden was open at weekends and had been the previous weekend but I’m not certain if this applies during winter months.

Well maintained footpaths through pleasant and woodland. The trails are clearly marked and lead to great views over the Mawddach estuary. The old lime kiln is interesting. Good place for picnics and splashing about in the stream.
