What travellers are saying
- Heather MMaryland177 contributionsWe went here on our way between Capitol Reef National Park and Arches National Park on the advice of a fellow traveler. It was a pretty cool state park. If it hadn't been so hot that day and we hadn't booked ourselves elsewhere later in the day, we might have taken a short hike through the hoodoos. There is no shade in this park aside from the shade of the taller hoodoos so come prepared for that. There are bathroom facilities in a few locations near parking lots. There are also plenty of shaded picnic tables next to the parking lots if you want to have a little picnic here. All in all, we enjoyed this unique state park.Written August 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jaime C1 contributionA beautiful place! We stopped at the roadside attraction. We saw mountain goats! So beautiful! I loved itWritten September 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lisa VSan Diego, CA97 contributionsA scenic drive of southwest geology, drive west past the Wild Horse Butte to the parking area with restroom facilities. The trail is a loop with the wider canyon hike, Wild Horse, to the right and the narrow slot canyon, Bell, to the left. The trails connect on the backside with a stretch that is open to vehicular traffic. Wanting an outdoor experience and to avoid ANY vehicle, as well as preferring the slot canyon experience, we chose Bell. There were a few very narrow places and a few that required a bit of scrambling to get up and over large boulders that blocked the way, but it was worth it. A very enjoyable adventure and we found a lovely place to sit and enjoy a picnic. At the very least, bring water. If you travel during hotter weather, water, sunglasses and a hat are best buddies.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LESLIE BHot Springs, AR4 contributionsVery well done really helpful in learning the history of rafting and the area would highly recommend the bar in the town with pictures of rafting and great burgers and homemade friesWritten August 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - shnpanBirmingham, AL988 contributionsThis visit was a bit disappointing as the geyser was not erupting. It is a well marked but gravel road to get to the geyser. It was very interesting seeing the site but don't expect the geyser to be erupting every time you visit.Written February 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Debra BSt. Marys, KS42 contributionsThe Green River is beautiful in this desert climate. Sandy beach and the water was cool and clean. We enjoyed our walk on the beach.Written August 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sara TEllicott City, MD982 contributionsNice grassy campground, a relief to see after so much desert. They had bathrooms with flush toilets. Sites are a good size, we didn’t feel on top of our neighbors. River access which was nice. They are on a golf course but lots of restricted areas to walk because of that. They are putting in more cabins which look very nice. the the campground. They have disc golf and they are on a golf course. We will stay here again.Written June 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Miriam SPalo Alto, CA34 contributionsI know, I know. You’re on your way to Arches or Canyonlands and you’re thinking, what do I need with a scenic overlook? Let’s just say that when the state of Utah marks some view as scenic, they’re not kidding. The picture here does not do the view justice. You can see the amazing San Rafael Reef and imagine the feat of engineering involved in running the interstate through it.Written June 10, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan LDenver, CO496 contributionsIf you don’t have kids to get out of the car and run around, then I’m not sure if it’s worth stopping. Kinda lame if there is no meaning.Written July 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- rdiddy1234Salt Lake City, UT39 contributionsThis is a WET canyon. We did not come prepared for that. To do it you'd want good shoes for mud and maybe wet suits if it isn't a hot day? We hiked along the edge and dropped in and climbed out a few times. We enjoyed the few short stretches we could be in the bottom of the slot. A vehicle with decent ground clearance would be best, especially if you want to drive instead of hike the short spur road to the slot.Written October 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kevan jNorman, OK1,503 contributionsThis trail is a combination of well-marked sections, and route finding. It begins at the parking lot and at first goes out over some sandstone hills (ups and downs). Next comes a stroll across the desert and around the large formations seen from the trailhead. The trail is well-marked with signs. Don't worry about missing the path up to the Lair as there is a good sign. The climb to the lair is a bit steep. The opening to the cave looks like something out of Lord of the Rings. It is also somewhat difficult climbing down into the cave, but it's not as bad as it looks. Very nice hike with no one else on the trail during the first week in January.Written October 6, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - teacherextraordinareWichita, KS90 contributionsBefore you go, make sure you know where the actual slot canyon part of the wash is located. We had both google maps and a gps device lead us to a Moonshine Wash sign marker about 45 minutes south of Green River. We picked our way down the cliff and into the wash, since there was no discernible trail or trailhead marker. We spent about three hours in the wash, hiking both up and down from where the sign was posted and never found the slot. While the wash itself has some nice cliffs with desert varnish, our time could have been better spent elsewhere. As an aside, we have been hiking the desert for many years and this was the first time we have ever come across a bee hive built into the sandstone wall.Written June 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
