The whole experience was great from start to finish. Our tour guide Georgio was a delight and full of knowledge, the wine was really good and the lunch was lovely too! I’d say definitely skip breakfast if you’re coming for the lunch experience as it was a lot of food but all of it delicious. Was one of the highlights of our holiday!

The apartment over the wine store was spacious and impeccably furnished. We even had our own private garden. The church bells were heartwarming. Matteo and his wife were superb hosts. This was our favorite location in our month long travels in the Tuscany area. Highly recommend. Once in a lifetime experience. Oh, and the wine… amazing. Had to ship some home and it is only opened for very special friends 😉

We did a wine tasting here. The Chianti was delicious! I would definitely recommend it! The Chianti classico was my favorite!

"Castello" in central and northern Italy (and therefore also in this case) hasn't the same meaning as "Castle" in English: it isn't the residence of a lord (or at least, it is not just this one), but is originally a real village surrounded by walls.
Sezzate is no exception: it is a village in an idyllic position and admirable for its state of preservation, which dominates the valley of the creek of the same name, at a point where it narrows and so it is better controllable for military purposes. Beautifully restored, it now belongs to a single owner; then retrospectively it deserves the name of the castle in every sense.
It 'easy to reach it from the highway Greve-Cintoia, through the public path n. 18 of the Italian Alpine Club, which is part of the so-called "Cintoia ring" and that leads to the castle through an ancient bridge over the Sezzate creek. Immediately below the castle, following the path inside a beautiful olive grove, you can admire both the wonderful grove itself, the imposing building, and the wide view on the north, towards the Florence's basin.
