Christmas Town was better in previous years. There are no more printed maps so if you like printed maps, you need to download the map from the website and print it before you arrive. It would be nice if the website included information on which shows will be available on which days. I buy my ticket in advance to take advantage of the flash sales. But I can't see which shows are running when so I can make sure to come on a day when the show I want to see is running. Of course, the "handling fee" for online tickets is ridiculous.
As others have mentioned, the park is very crowded and signs are few and far between. It is not easy to get from one show to another. It was also not easy to find a seat to eat my dinner at Festhaus. Soon it was showtime. They performed "Up on the Haustop", a medley of modern Christmas songs. (I was seated with a family of five. Would you believe that four of them were looking at their phones rather than watching the show? Two of the four were adults!) Outside the Festhaus is a large Christmas tree. Every half hour, the lights move in synch with the music. The show is called "O Tannenbaum".
I wanted to ride the Christmas Town Express train ride around the park to see the lights. There was something on the tracks and the train in front of me was delayed as a result. When the next train arrived, it took no passengers and went empty to the depot. (At least I had a seat while waiting.) The next train pulled in and I was able to board. But it waited in the station for 10 minutes without proceeding. When it proceeded, the ride itself was nice. But I missed a show that I had wanted to see because of the train delays.
When I first visited Christmas Town, it was much better.
