We were traveling from Kelowna, BC to Spokane, WA and found out about China Bend Winery on tripadvisor.com. This was the best find we've ever had on the website.

The road into the winery is very rutty and we thought about turning the RV back onto a paved road. When we got to the facility, the RV ripped off branched of Walnut trees canopying the driveway.

The winery has a 2 room B&B and they can prepare dinner as well as lunch. We didn't partake in the B&B, but will be doing so in the future.

The property had a croquet field, drums, a barrel of ripe walnuts, and most importantly, amazing wines. The wines are made without sulfates and are incredibly smooth. You can't compare the wines to those in Napa, France, or anywhere else in the world. The grapes used are from the high altitude regions of Europe. The wines are a little gritty, but incredibly smooth. I can't believe how enjoyable they are. The ages of the wines we tasted (and purchased) are 7-10 years old. We need to find out how to purchase more wine.

The wine tasting room had awards all over the walls. Interestingly enough, there are no awards after about 2005 because they got tired of entering wine competitions and traveling. They got tired of success!

Lastly, we had the place to ourselves one weekday afternoon and tasted all the wines with the proprietor, Bart. It was an incredible experience just being in the room with him because I have never seen someone enjoy wine (he drank with us) as much as he did. Bart had true passion indeed.

This place sure is way off the beaten path and blast from the past, but I strongly encourage anyone with an affinity for great wines in/around Eastern Washington to experience China Bend Winery. It is like no other.

The only regret is that we missed the garlic festival by 10 days. I can only imagine what dozens of hippies eating garlic, drinking wine, listening to music, and dancing must be like.

Fun shopping. Must try a huckleberry shake before you leave! The people are friendly and the coffee shop was quaint.

wonderfully laid out in a panorama display. Native American dress and weapons depicted with resect with written and visual effects for the young. Great paintings and murals on walls. A great way to spend 1 to 2 hour. Charts show migration patterns also the importance of Hudson bay Co. in the Kettle Falls area.

We were referred here last summer for "you pick" cherries. My wife and I picked both buckets full Bing and Ranier cherries and blueberries, and also purchased pre-picked peaches and apricots. There are some garden vegetables available as well, and we saw some grapes on the vine, but they were not ready for harvest. The orchard is very well maintained, the couple who owns it are very friendly, helpful, and are delighted to answer any questions you might have. The produce was very reasonably priced. It would not be at all difficult at all to fill the freezer or canning jars with their excellent fruit for little money. This orchard is surrounded by others along the southern bank of the Columbia River, but this is our favorite. You will find this to be a great place to shop for fruit!
